Provide technical advisory support; awareness-raising; and capacity building at regional and national level
1. Provide technical support to the implementation of the SMART-C LC/LP project by coordinating and implementing capacity-building activities, such as workshops, seminars, expert groups, etc., as well as participate and make presentations on assigned topics related to the project.
2. Coordinate, contribute and implement the development of guidance documents to assist current and prospective London Protocol Parties in undertaking project-specific activities, where technical support is necessary.
3. Provide expert advice in relation to the development of technical reports and publications in the specific area of the project. Review, edit and contribute to other publications developed or commissioned by the project.
4. Assist in the preparation and production of project outreach materials, attend and contribute to relevant conferences, meetings and seminars.
5. Draft documents, e.g. background papers, briefing notes, presentations to internal and external partners, speeches, mission reports and inputs for presentations by senior IMO staff on project-related issues for specialist or non-specialist audiences.
6. Monitor and identify the needs of the partner countries and, in direct contact with their National Focal Points or other government officers, facilitate project support to those countries to implement the technical activities as agreed under the project.
7. Draft terms of reference for contracting experts and consultants and oversee contractual arrangements. Review and edit consultant reports and provide feedback on performance.
8. Support the SMART-C LC/LP Project Manager by assisting in all tasks linked to project administration, such as coordination of meetings, record keeping and reporting.
9. Liaise within IMO with other Divisions, as well as well as with various bodies established under the London Convention/Protocol, in relation to project activities, as well as establishing synergies and coherence.
10. Perform any other duties as may be assigned.
