About the job
The WASH Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting the implementation of high-quality Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) programs within Danish Refugees Council (DRC). This position requires a strong understanding of WASH principles and methodologies, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and a commitment to improving the lives of vulnerable communities. Your main duties and responsibilities will be:

Program Implementation:
- Assist in the planning, implementation, and monitoring of WASH activities, including:
- Water supply and sanitation infrastructure development and maintenance
- Hygiene promotion and community education campaigns
- Sanitation and hygiene facilities construction and improvement
- Water quality testing and treatment
- Emergency WASH response activities
- Assist in the planning, implementation, and monitoring of WASH activities, including:

Community Engagement:
- Conduct community meetings and trainings on WASH issues
- Facilitate community-based planning and decision-making processes
- Build and maintain strong relationships with community members, local leaders, and other stakeholders
- Address community concerns and resolve WASH-related issues in liaison with the WASH team leader and WASH officers.

Data Collection and Reporting:
- Collect and analyze data on WASH program indicators
- Prepare regular reports on activity progress and challenges.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all WASH activities (Hygiene promotion, water supply infrastructures operations and water quality data)

Logistics and Procurement:
- Assist in the procurement and distribution of WASH supplies and materials
- Ensure the proper maintenance and utilization of WASH equipment and tools
Required
- At least 2 years of experience in WASH program implementation, preferably in humanitarian settings, rural communities.
- Strong understanding of WASH principles and best practices.
- Experience in community mobilization, training, and facilitation.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in data collection, analysis, and reporting.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Fluency in English, both local or classic Arabic, Dinka/Shilluk.
- Commitment to improving the lives of vulnerable communities.
