JOB OVERVIEW

The Women’s Protection and Empowerment (WPE) case worker will provide direct support and case management to at-risk women and girls as part of the WPE team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

·Provide gender-based violence case management, based on the needs of survivors, ensure comprehensive assessment of the needs of survivors, develop and implement individualized plans, coordinate access to relevant services, ensuring compliance with the principles of confidentiality, safety, informed consent and a survivor-centered approach.

·Maintain case management documentation forms, reporting on qualitative and quantitative indicators of case management.

·Data entry into the GBV Information Management System (GBV IMS) in accordance with the standards for data protection, collection and exchange, in addition to the GBV guidelines.

·In case management and in cooperation with the WPE Senior Officer, assess the needs and risks of case management clients to use cash support tools for case management clients, such as Emergency case management found and Cash for Protection.

·Under the Emergency case management found, responsible for holding bank cards, assessing the emergency needs of case management clients and purchasing the necessary goods, and reporting expenses.

·Under Cash for Protection, in accordance with the IRC and PIN criteria, assess protection risks and needs of case management clients; ensure appropriate documentation and timely data entry into relevant information systems.

·Provide preparation, facilitation and implementation of psychosocial support groups for women and girls at risk and survivors of GBV, using the Women Rise guidelines. Maintain reporting on qualitative and quantitative indicators, fill out relevant registration forms, assess the status of participants, and prepare conclusions.

·Participate in collecting, analyzing and reporting information on key protection risks faced by women and girls in communities, including service mapping, GBV risk assessment, and Safety Audits. Use the data obtained to inform the planning, improvement and implementation of case management activities and WPE IRC programs in general.

·Take part in weekly supervision meetings with a WPE Senior officer to build capacity and improve case management skills.

·If necessary, to be involved in crisis response, by providing life-saving and first psychological aid to women and girls affected by conflict-related emergencies, and by supporting the evacuated population in evacuation and transit hubs.

·Work closely daily with other IRC sectors, specialized and non-specialized service providers to survivors of violence to ensure a holistic approach and to enable clients to access services in a safe, confidential manner through referrals and information.

·Actively participate in internal and external training events, workshops, and capacity building sessions aimed at improving professional competence in case management, GBV response, psychosocial support, and compliance with protection principles. Share the knowledge gained with the team to strengthen collective capacity.

·Conduct its activities in accordance with global standards and guidelines, including Protection Case Management Guidelines, IASC GBV Guidelines; IASOP on Gender-Based Violence Case Management for Humanitarian Actors: Ukraine and others.

·On behalf of the WPE manager or WPE Senior Officer, participate in coordination meetings, interagency meetings, working groups and events with key stakeholders at the community, district and regional levels to strengthen intersectoral cooperation in GBV response.

·If necessary, participate in the implementation of other program activities, such as information sessions to raise awareness about GBV, including presenting the case management component to clients, explaining available services and ways to obtain them.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education:

  • Higher education (master's degree) in social work or other social sciences, psychology and law, as well as relevant work experience in the humanitarian field (minimum 2 years).

Experience:

-Experience with provide direct support (PFA, basic counselling, case management, PSS) with women and girls, including survivors of GBV; previous training in these areas strongly preferred.

-Experience facilitating group activities, trainings and workshops and mentoring others.

Demonstrated Skills and Competencies:

-Language: Ukrainian is required, candidates with English language skills will have an advantage.

-Clear understanding and interest in the well-being of women and girls and supporting their healing after the experience of violence.

-Ability to respond to emergencies when needed and support WPE team in providing any kind of support and distributing kits when needed.

-Clear understanding and interest in, violence against women and girls, the well-being of women and girls, supporting their healing after the experience of violence, human rights, and gender.

-High-level communication skills.

-Demonstrated understanding of and opportunity to maintain confidentiality and respect for clients/beneficiaries.

-Positive and professional attitude, including capability to lead and work well in a team setting.

-Strong level of computer literate, including Microsoft Word and Excel.

REPORTING STRUCTURE AND TEAM COLLABORATION

  • Internal collaborations: Child Protection team; Protection Rule of Law team; Economic Recovery and Development team; Health team.
  • External collaborations: GBV actors, organizations and agencies.
  • Reporting structure: WPE Senior Manager, WPE Manager, WPE Senior Officer.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND OTHER RELEVANT INFORMATION

  • This role requires full-time work in the office.
  • Travel to other locations is needed up to 30% of time
  • The position will be based in Kharkiv office, with business trips to Donetsk and Sumy regions in relation to ongoing activities, after security assessment, with the possibility of overnight stays in a hotel or guest house
