Senior Assistant

ICRISAT seeks applications from highly motivated and qualified nationals for the position of Senior Assistant – Sadore Research Station Surveillance to monitor and maintain the area in the Sadore Research Station in Niamey, Niger.  The ideal candidate will need to have a strong understanding of agriculture with hands-on experience in practical applications on the field. The incumbent will be based in Niamey and will report directly to Country Representative of Niger.

 Responsibilities:

• Monitoring the cleaning and maintenance of building and offices of Sadore research station

• Monitoring the maintenance of green spaces, collecting and computing climatic data from the weather 

• Management of assets mobility inside and outside the research station

• Monitoring electricity and security system of Niamey Genebank Facility

• General supervision of the research station security plan (in coordination with security guards and farm manager)

Required skills

• Diploma in any field of Agriculture, or a Completed High School certificate with atleast 5 years of relevant experience in agri sector

• A minimum of 3 years’ hands-on experience having worked in a Agriculture Research Station career.  Over 5 years of similar experience would be an added advantage

• Knowledge in agronomy, crops or plants in general is mandatory for the role

• Good understanding of surroundings of Research stations

• knowledge of local language

General:

This is a contractual position for a period of 36 months.
