What we are looking for:
Since conflict erupted in Sudan in April 2023 the country has endured a comprehensive collapse. And with no meaningful prospects for peace in sight, it sits on the precipice of unprecedented crisis, fragmentation, and state failure. Sudan is now the world’s largest displacement crisis in the world, with over 10.7 million people internally displaced, and over 2 million fleeing across its borders. Sudan is also the world’s largest hunger crisis. About 25.6 million people – over half the population in Sudan – face acute hunger, including more than 755,000 people on the brink of famine.
NRC’s programme has grown in response, becoming one of the two largest in the region. It has a budget of $50 million and employs 300staff managed from five Area Offices that covers operations across all the States in Sudan

What will you do:The main objective for the Logistics Adviser is to support the Area Support Managers in implementing NRC’s systems and procedures at the AO and FO levels, and ensure compliance with procurement laws, ensure adherence to NRC policies, handbooks, guidelines and donor requirements, prepare and submit reports and analysis and ensure proper filing of all support documents and facilitate capacity building for AO logistics staff/ budget-holders. The following is a brief description of the role.
Generic responsibilities:
- Ensure that the country set up for logistic complies with NRC Logistic handbook, policies and donor requirements
- Implement NRC’s logistics systems and procedures and develop country specific SOP’s to ensure good practices in place
- Capacity building and support of logistic and non-logistic staff with logistical responsibilities
- Conduct periodic compliance checks and implement quality control measures of country logistic functions
Specific Responsibilities:
- Support the NRC Darfur Area Offices on day-to-day job as well as with setting up of NRC logistics systems in Nyala and Tawila to ensure transparency and accountability
- Support the ERTs in North and South Darfur in coordinating logistics support from the AO
- Facilitate the conduct of high value procurements for the AO and the delivery of international shipments via Chad

What you will bring
Generic professional competencies:
- A bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, logistics, business administration, or a related field. Master’s degree an advantage
- Minimum 3 years of senior Logistics experience (Coordinator or above) in Humanitarian contexts.
- Experience in a complex context.
- International experience is preferred.
- Experience in supporting logistics teams
- Proven experience on Supply Change Management and Compliance.
- Experience from working in complex and volatile contexts.
- Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities.
- Fluency in English, both written and verbal, Arabic an advantage
Context/ Specific skills, knowledge and experience:
- Strong understanding of NRC logistics system
- Experience with ECHO, SIDA, NMFA, BHA and ECW as a donors
- Experience from large/complex or multi-applicant projects with stringent donor rules is very advantageous.
- Experience from working in a technical Logistics position.
- Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities.
- Understanding and experience using Agresso/Unit4 is an advantage.
- Experience with start-up, exit or similar.

- Salary/benefits: grade 8 on NRC’s international salary scale.
- Duration of Contract: 1-year contract, with possible extension
- Travel: Up to 60% within Darfur (Nyala & Tawila)
