This Role is only open to current IRC opt employees only
The IRC is working to scale its emergency response while building a
longer-term oPt country program in parallel. This effort is being jointly
managed by the Emergencies and Humanitarian Action Unit (EHAU) and the Middle
East and North Africa (MENA) region, with a view to eventually transitioning
the country program fully under the MENA region.
In Gaza, the IRC is currently scaling up its direct program
implementation of its child protection program, which aims to ensure that girls
and boys are protected from and treated for the consequences of violence,
abuse, and exploitation, family separation is prevented, and appropriate care
is provided in emergencies.
Key Responsibilities:
Security
and Operational Support
Ensure the
physical security measures of the guesthouse/office and warehouse.
Stay alert
and vigilant during assigned shift.
Always stay in post until the next guard is onsite and has received by handover signed note with date, time and assigned by their supervisor.
Record and report any suspicious movements or any changes in the immediate environment surrounding the IRC premises and inform the HAS officer and HAS manager.
Rutinley covers both the guesthouse and warehouse and shares any relevant concern with the HAS officer and HAS manager.
Maintain all equipment related to the guards in a serviceable state and immediately report any faults, damage or unserviceability to the HAS officer and HAS manager.
Make
detailed notes about damage to the premise or assets or of unusual
occurrences.
Enforce
and adhere to all the rules and regulations at the office/guesthouse and
warehouse.
Inform and
report any challenges or breaches to the HAS officer.
Reporting and Documentation
Report security concerns, unusual activities, or breaches immediately to the HAS officer and HAS Manager.
Track all vehicle movements and document them accordingly.
With the support of the HAS officer, plan duty rosters, manage shift scheduling, and ensure appropriate guard deployment across sites (offices/guesthouse and warehouses).
Support
with timesheets of security guards and any other relevant administrative
task that may be assigned to him/her.
Coordination and networking
Maintain good actor mapping and establish good contact with relevant stakeholders in the neighborhoods.
In collaboration with HAS officer and HAS manager, coordinate with logistics, and program teams to support removal, dispatch and movement of items from the warehouse.
Work with
the other guards to establish and enhance IRC’s community acceptance.
Leadership and Supervision
In collaboration with the HAS officer, supervises the hired or contracted IRC security guards in the office/GH and warehouse.
Monitor and ensure strict access control procedures at the office/guesthouse and the warehouse.
With the support of the HAS officer, mentor guards on professionalism, cultural sensitivity, and respectful conduct in line with IRC’s code of conduct.
Reporting and Documentation

Minimum Qualifications:
Required Experience and qualification:
Completion of secondary school education.
Higher education qualification would be an asset.
At least 1-2 years of prior professional experience in a similar post.
Fluency in written and spoken Arabic language. English would be an asset.
Skills and Competencies:
Strong
leadership, discipline, and organizational skills.
Good communication
and interpersonal skills.
Ability to
remain calm and lead others under pressure.
Working
knowledge of local security dynamics and conflict sensitivity.
Computer skills: basic knowledge of Word, Excel, and digital reporting tools.
