Job Description

Established in 1951, IOM is the leading inter-governmental organization in the field of migration and works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants.

Under the direct supervision of the IBG Programme Coordinator, the successful candidate will be accountable and responsible for assisting in the administrative planning, coordination and implementation within the Immigration and Border Management Unit. 

Responsibilities

1.    Assist in implementing and monitoring operational, logistical and administrative aspects of IOM DRC’s Borderlands Programme on Immigration and Border Governance (IBG), in coordination with the IBG Programme Coordinator and other colleagues from the relevant units.
2.    Retrieve, compile, summarize, and present information/data on specific project topics.
3.    Support administrative coordination of project implementation, involving liaison with diverse organizational units and external parties to initiate requests, obtain necessary clearances, process and follow-up on administrative actions, etc.
4.    Draft status reports, identifying shortfalls in delivery and bringing them to the attention of the supervisor.
5.    Maintain, update and compile project documentation, including payment requests, Purchase Requisition, and similar routine project documentation for the projects. 
6.    Organize meetings, workshops and training sessions
7.    Undertake duty travels related to the project implementation. 
8.    Perform any other duties relevant as assigned. 
 

Qualifications

EDUCATION
•    High School diploma with four years of relevant experience; or,
•    Bachelor’s degree in political or social sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law or related fields from an accredited academic institution, with two years of relevant professional experience.


EXPERIENCE 
•    Experience in liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, United Nations agencies and non-governmental organizations.
•    Experience in working on immigration and border management; and,
•    Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations, non-government or government institutions/organization in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage.
•    Good level of computer literacy, including database applications.
