INTRODUCTION OF THE POST

 

Reporting directly to the Head of RB or Liaison office, the incumbent will be the personal driver to the Head of RB or Liaison office, responsible for ensuring the security, condition and maintenance of the official vehicle.

The incumbent will be at the disposition of the Head of RB or Liaison office in order to transport him, with a maximum of security, to all official engagements.   The incumbent will also be responsible for ensuring that the official vehicle is maintained in excellent working condition at all times.   

The incumbent must respect a healthy lifestyle compatible with his/her responsibilities.  Consumption of alcohol during hours of service, or in the hours proceeding service, is strictly prohibited.

 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES 

 

  1. The incumbent will act as the personal driver to the Head of the RB or Liaison office, strictly respecting defined itineraries, unless modifications need to be made for security reasons.
    • Under the direction of the Head of RB or Liaison office, the incumbent will be responsible for driving the Head of RB or Liaison office to scheduled meetings and appointments.
    • The incumbent will be responsible for planning routes and travel schedules, verifying the traffic situation and driving conditions and ensuring that an appropriate timeframe is allocated for travel to destination.
  1. The incumbent will be responsible for the maintenance, cleanliness and regular servicing of the official vehicle.
    • The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring that the official vehicle is serviced on a regular basis and well maintained.
    • The incumbent will ensure that the vehicle meets all the legal requirements in force in the country i.e. adheres to pollution regulations.
    • The incumbent will be responsible for bringing to the attention of the Head of RB or Liaison office any mechanical problems with the official vehicle and propose solutions for the Head of RB or Liaison office’s consideration.
    • The incumbent will be responsible for providing the Head of RB or Liaison office with the necessary information regarding any repair work that may need to be carried out on the official vehicle. 
  1. As directed by the Head of RB or Liaison office, the incumbent will be responsible for collecting visitors to the RB or Liaison office from the airport and transferring them to their hotel.
    • As directed by the Head of RB or Liaison office, the incumbent’s duties will include collecting important visitors to the RB or Liaison office from the airport and transfer them to their hotel.  In this respect the incumbent will be responsible for verifying arrival times of flights and adapt accordingly to any eventual modifications in flight schedules.
    • The incumbent should offer visitors he is accompanying any assistance they may require with their luggage etc., and be capable of providing them with basic information regarding the location of certain key services.
  1. The incumbent will be responsible for the security of the official vehicle at all times whilst on official duty.
    • The incumbent will never leave the official vehicle unattended whilst on duty, and will be responsible for carrying out a thorough security check of the vehicle and ensuring that all security measures are taken and/or in place before embarking on an official assignment.  
    • The incumbent is responsible for ensuring that upon completion of his daily duties that the vehicle is returned to its official location when not in use.
  1. Any other duties as directed by the Head of RB or Liaison office.
    • The incumbent will carry out any other duties as directed by the Head of RB or Liaison office, which could include the delivery of official or urgent documents, the transfer of RB or Liaison office personnel from one location to another in the context of their professional activities, the collection of official documents from administrations or government offices etc.

 

REQUIREMENTS

 

Education and qualification required

  • Driving qualifications, preferably from a police training school, to drive all categories of vehicles.
  • A police security background or training is also required.
  • Clean driving license.

Experience required:

  • Experience in the area of security and driving within a police organization is required. (At least 5 years would be beneficial) 

Languages required

  • Working knowledge of English. 
  • Knowledge of any other language of the organization (Arabic, French or Spanish) would be an asset.

Abilities required

  • A high degree of flexibility is required, given the irregular hours for such a post.
  • A highly developed sense of observation in order to anticipate any potential problems.
  • Ability to react quickly as and when the need arises.
  • Ability to anticipate potential difficulties relating to security, traffic conditions etc.
  • Discretion, confidentiality, diplomacy, tact.
  • Good communication and interpersonal  skills.
