Mission and objectives
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is the United Nations' global development network, advocating for change and connecting countries to knowledge, experience and resources to help people build a better life. It is on the ground in 177 countries, working on solutions to global and national development challenges. UNDP China assists China in developing its own solutions to the country’s development challenges and works to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals by reducing poverty, strengthening the rule of law and democratic governance, and by promoting environmental sustainability and South-South Cooperation.
Context
This UNV assignment is part of UNDP’s programming initiative Green and Digital Innovation Cooperation Project (GDIP). GDIP aims to catalyze global cooperation on climate action and sustainable development. The Project supports China's dual carbon goals-- achieving carbon peak by 2030 and carbon neutrality by 2060—while advancing the transformation of Hainan Province into a free trade port and a zero-carbon island. It further aims to enhance the sustainable development capacity of China-EU (Baoting) Green and Digital Innovation Cooperation Zone (Baoting Innovation Zone) through cross-sectoral innovation and international collaboration, contributing to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and global climate goals.
