Duties and Responsibilities

BACKGROUND: The International Trade Centre (ITC) is the joint agency of the United Nations and the World Trade Organization, which provides technical assistance and capacity building to policymakers, the private sector and trade and investment support organisations to help them use trade as an engine for sustainable growth and employment generation. ITC works to support the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals by connecting micro, small and medium enterprises to global value chains. By enabling small business export success in developing countries, ITC helps generate sustainable incomes and livelihoods, especially for women and youth, while taking into consideration sustainable elements such as the environment and social responsibility. The SME Trade Academy (SMETA) is ITC’s learning solutions initiative and the main platform for delivering e-learning, blended training, and digital capacity-building at scale. It offers over 120 online courses in trade and related topics, reaching tens of thousands of learners worldwide each year, and serves as a hub for innovative training tools and platforms, including the Sustainable Trade Faculty. DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES Under the overall guidance of the E-learning Senior Expert and direct supervision of the SME Trade Academy Programme Manager, the selected candidate is expected to: 1. Support the development of the Sustainable Trade Faculty (STF): contribute to the growth of this young online platform hosted by the SME Trade Academy, by assisting with planning, organization, and coordination of activities. 2. Web and communication tasks: support the drafting and posting of content (short texts, best practice, highlights) on the STF platform; contribute to the preparation of the SMETA newsletters, updates, and other outreach material. 3. Stakeholder engagement support: assist in mapping and documenting key partners and their potential role in the Faculty, and support communication with internal and external stakeholders. 4. Monitoring and reporting: help collect and organize basic data on platform usage, visibility, and user engagement. 5. Other tasks as required: provide general support to the SME Trade Academy team, including assistance with knowledge management, meeting preparation, and administrative tasks. Qualifications/special skills

Education At the time of application, applicants shall meet one of the following requirements: a) Be enrolled in the final academic year of the first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent); OR b) Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);OR c) Have graduated with a university degree (as defined above) and, if selected, must commence the internship within one year of graduation. Work Experience No work experience is required. Experience or coursework related to sustainable development, trade, or communications is an asset. Skills • Strong written communication and organizational skills. • Ability to research and synthesize information clearly and concisely. • Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). • Interest in sustainable development and international cooperation is desirable.

Languages

Advanced knowledge of English is required. Working knowledge of French is desirable.
