Job Overview: The Anti-Human Trafficking Caseworker provides assistance to victims and survivors of human trafficking; developing case plans to match individual needs utilizing a range of financial, medical, social, vocational, and other services and resources based on client eligibility. The Caseworker also participates, as required, in program planning and service development through committees, task forces, and work groups. The Caseworker operates under moderate supervision with latitude for the use of independent judgment and initiative.

Major Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

  • Provide direct, trauma-informed case management services to survivors of all types of human trafficking.
  • Respond to emergency calls and referrals in a timely and effective manner, and participate in the on-call phone rotation, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Conduct intake assessment and develop individualized, strength-based service plans, managing client expectations during the service period.
  • Coordinate access to emergency and long-term services, including shelter, food, clothing, healthcare, mental health, education, legal assistance, and employment readiness.
  • Conduct safety planning with clients and monitor client progress to ensure goals are being attained and designated resources are being maximized.
  • Provide individualized orientation, support, referral, and advocacy services by assessing and evaluating clients’ distinct needs.
  • Ensure that clients are provided with the tools they need to meet their established goals and objectives.
  • Assess and provide support with pre-employment/job readiness orientation and referrals to clients eligible for employment services.
  • Advocate for survivors with external agencies, including landlords, schools, health providers, and legal entities.
  • Maintain accurate and timely case notes, service plans, and outcomes in accordance with IRC standards.
  • Ensure compliance with all case file management and reporting requirements.
  • Participate in case staffing meetings and assist with coordinating care across agencies.
  • Participate in relevant partner meetings and engage various stakeholders to identify community resources.
  • Foster trust and maintain professional communication with law enforcement to ensure confidentiality and survivor-centered practices.
  • Participate in outreach activities to raise awareness among at-risk communities and service providers.
  • Provide or support professional training events related to human trafficking, trauma-informed care, and victim services.
  • Provide culturally and linguistically appropriate services, using interpreters when necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

Education: Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in Social Work, psychology, or an equivalent field of study. Master's preferred.

Work Experience:

  • Relevant professional experience in social services, humanitarian relief, public service, or other not-for-profit environment; minimum of 2-3 years’ experience strongly preferred.

Demonstrated Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong understanding of trauma-informed, client-centered, and rights-based approaches.
  • Demonstrated success working and communicating effectively in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary settings, including with law enforcement and government partners.
  • Proven ability to contribute both independently and as a key team member.
  • Self-starter with excellent problem-solving skills combined with the proven ability to multitask, prioritize duties, and manage time effectively.
  • Fluent in English, both spoken and written, bilingual ability in Creole and/or Spanish is desired.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle with current insurance, and the ability to travel regularly throughout the service delivery area (home visits, agency visits, service provider visits, etc.).

Working Environment: 

  • A combination of standard office environment, remote work, and ‘field’ time within the service delivery area to perform the above outlined responsibilities.
  • May require occasional weekend and/or evening work.

Compensation: (Pay Range: $19.70 - $21.40) Posted pay ranges apply to US-based candidates. Ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job type, internal equity, and budget.  Exact offers are calibrated by work location, individual candidate experience and skills relative to the defined job requirements.
