Job Description: Advisor to the Vice President & Chief Risk Officer (VP&CRO)
The Office of the Vice-President and Chief Risk Officer, under the VP&CRO, is functionally responsible for assisting the VP&CRO to achieve corporate, strategic, operational and other objectives, in all areas of work under the Vice-Presidency including Strategy, Policies, Partnerships, Risk, Budget Control, ESG and Procurement functions.
The Advisor, reporting directly to the VP&CRO, serves as a principal resource, providing inputs on all areas of work and matters handled within the Vice Presidency to support informed decision-making and execution. The Advisor also plays a key liaison role with all internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Review complex proposals, and offer comprehensive recommendations that consider multiple stakeholder perspectives, including inputs from specialists within and outside NDB.
- Critically analyse and provide recommendations on the agenda papers of various committees of the Bank put up to the VP&CRO for decisioning.
- Provide independent research, analysis, insights and recommendations on key strategic and operational issues, including emerging trends, opportunities and challenges.
- Build and maintain collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders, departments and divisions, as well as with external stakeholders viz. senior officials from member countries, development finance institutions, and multilateral organizations.
- Support the Vice President in high-level meetings with government officials, financial institutions, development partners, and other strategic stakeholders.
- Provide oversight and quality assurance for key documents and outputs under the Vice-Presidency.
- Motivate/challenge team members to improve operational efficiency, pursue innovative approaches and enhance good governance across work areas.
- Lead special projects, initiatives and any other assignments as delegated by the Vice President.
Position Requirements and Competencies:
- Master’s Degree or equivalent in a relevant field from a reputed university. Relevant professional certification/s would be an added advantage.
- A minimum of 12 years of experience and a proven track record in leadership roles within government, multilateral institutions or major financial organisations as well as experience in policy development, executive-level advising, interdepartmental coordination, stakeholder management and administrative tasks
- Hands-on experience in one or more areas in the field of policy-making, executive-level advising, interdepartmental coordination and administrative tasks
- Relevant experience in banking, administrative or diplomatic functions, preferably in a multi-cultural work environment.
- Proven experience in working under tight timelines.
- Problem-solving, communication, conflict management and interpersonal skills with high resilience and drive in achieving objectives and goals.
- Desire to challenge the status quo and bring in new ideas, innovation and approaches.
- Strong interpersonal, diplomatic, negotiation, team play and organisational skill sets.
- Ability to juggle multiple priorities, work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Self-motivated, service-oriented and detail-attentive.
- Exercising discretion and maintaining integrity of sensitive information.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, in English language.
- Proficiency in any of the other languages of member countries preferred, but not mandatory.
