Mission and objectives
UN Women, grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the empowerment of women; and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security.
Context
The 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence is an annual international campaign that kicks off on 25 November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, and runs until 10 December, Human Rights Day. Every year, the UNITE Campaign focuses on a specific theme. The campaign calls on citizens to show how much they care about ending violence against women and girls by sharing the actions they are taking to create a world free from violence against women.
UN Women, in cooperation with UN Volunteers, has established a Special Programme Initiative, aiming at engaging UN Volunteers to support UN Women and, in particular the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence campaign in the Republic of Moldova.
The selected UN Community Volunteers will assist the UN Women team in Moldova in:
• Workshops & Trainings: Support UN Women with organizations of events and workshops to raise awareness on gender-based violence, targeting youth and community leaders, empowering them to become agents of change against gender-based violence.

Task description
Under the direct supervision UN Women Communication Specialist, the UN Community Volunteers will:
• Undergo training on processes and activities undertaken by UN Women under the 16 Days of Activism against GBV campaign.
• Assist UN Women in delivering empowerment sessions, raising awareness about their rights and the services available to them.
• Support the UN Women team in the implementation of awareness events.
• Engage with the community to promote awareness of gender-based violence issues and encourage community involvement in trainings.
• Assist in the creation of content and stories and promote messages of ending gender based violence.
• Maintain records of participants, attendance, and workshop materials.
• Assist in amplifying messages about ending violence against women through social media campaigns managed by UN Women by sharing this information with peers and the online community.
• Any other related tasks as may be required or assigned by the supervisor.
