After two decades, ESO is underway with an evolutionary journey to replace its longstanding ERP system with a modern, sustainable platform that will enhance our operational efficiency, adaptability, and ability for ESO to remain competitive and at the forefront of ground-based astronomy. From Human Resources to Finance, Procurement to Project Management, this transformation will impact every corner of our organisation. We're building a new ERP team and are looking for a Master Data Administrator to join us on this journey.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

This new role will support the day-to-day management and administration of master data in ESO's ERP system. It will focus on ensuring data accuracy, assisting with the initial data migration and leading onto the future operations with Oracle Fusion, and supporting reporting and business intelligence activities. You will work closely within the ERP team and with ESO users and external partners to maintain high-quality data and smooth ERP operations.

As part of our new ERP Team you will:

  • Support master data management: Assist with the creation, maintenance, and monitoring of master data in the ERP system to ensure accuracy, consistency, and completeness.
  • Help with data migration: Support the preparation and validation of data as ESO transitions from the current ERP system (Dynamics NAV) to Oracle Fusion.
  • Maintain day-to-day data quality: Work with colleagues across the organisation to keep information up to date and follow data standards and procedures.
  • Provide ERP support: Provide ERP-related support to end-users on master data and general system issues, working closely within the ERP team to resolve problems.
  • Enable reporting and BI: Help ensure high-quality master data underpins ESO's reporting and analytics, contributing to reliable reports and dashboards.
  • Cross-functional collaboration: Liaise with colleagues in Finance, HR, Procurement, and other areas to coordinate master data updates and support business needs.
  • Develop policies and ensure compliance: Assist in developing data governance policies/guidelines and ensure ongoing compliance with internal controls and ESO standards.

Key Competences and Experience:

Essential Competences and Experience

  • At least 3-years of experience in ERP-related roles, data administration, or a similar field.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems or large business applications (experience with Oracle Fusion desirable but not essential).
  • Knowledge and interest in reporting/analytics/Business Intelligence and understanding how accurate data supports analytics and decision-making.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • A high level of integrity and confidentiality when managing sensitive data and information.
  • Strong problem solving and critical thinking abilities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to engage with a range of stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to influence and promote best practices in data management and compliance.
  • Strong sense of ownership and accountability for data quality and policy adherence.
  • Collaborative mindset and ability to build positive working relationships across the organisation.

Desirable Competences and Experience

  • Knowledge of SQL queries would be an advantage.
  • Ability to work in a diverse, international, and multicultural environment.
  • Willingness to occasionally travel to Chile for work-related purposes.
  • A positive and proactive attitude with a willingness to learn are highly valued.

Qualifications:

Essential educational level:

A full secondary education.

Qualifications which would be an asset:

A diploma or bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, business administration, or an equivalent field will be advantageous.

Language skills:

Full command of English is essential (written as well as spoken), with German and Spanish of benefit.
