Mission and objectives

UNICEF in Turkey works to protect the rights of children and adolescents in Turkey since 1951. UNICEF's programme in Turkey focuses on the needs of the most vulnerable children in the areas of education, child protection, health care, social policy, adolescents and youth, in line with the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.

Context

The 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence is an annual international campaign (between 25 November – 10 December) for the elimination of violence against women and girls.

Every year, the UNITE Campaign focuses on a specific theme. The campaign calls on citizens to show how much they care about ending violence against women and girls by sharing the actions they are taking to create a world free from violence towards women and girls. In 2025, the campaign focuses on ending digital violence against all women and girls.

World Children’s Day, marked on 20 November each year, is UNICEF’s Global Day of Action for children, by children. It is a day to raise awareness, amplify children’s voices, and encourage young people to advocate for their rights and a better future.

Every year, World Children’s Day highlights a specific theme connected to children’s rights and well-being. The campaigns invite children, young people, adults, influencers and celebrities to take part by sharing their voices, ideas, and actions to help reimagine a safer, fairer, and more inclusive world for every child.
