Mission and objectives
The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme contributes to peace and development through volunteerism worldwide. We work with partners to integrate qualified, highly motivated and well supported UN Volunteers into development programming and promote the value and global recognition of volunteerism.
Context
The 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence is an annual international campaign that begins on 25 November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, and concludes on 10 December, Human Rights Day. Each year, the UNITE Campaign focuses on a specific theme and encourages citizens to demonstrate their commitment to ending violence against women and girls by sharing actions they are taking to create a world free from such violence. The 2025 Campaign highlights digitally facilitated violence.
UNV has launched a Special Programme Initiative (SPI) to engage UN Volunteers in supporting UN entities for the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence campaign across Azerbaijan, Georgia, the Republic of Moldova, and Türkiye. In addition to this SPI, there are two other SPIs with different UN entities targeting the same countries.
The selected UN Volunteer will assist the cluster of Azerbaijan, Georgia, the Republic of Moldova, and Türkiye, in UNV ROECA and other UN entities to engage and empower volunteers in line with the campaign’s objectives and targets of SPIs.
