Job Overview: The Caseworker provides trauma-informed services to refugees and other ORR qualified immigrants to support a positive integration experience and the achievement of client self-sufficiency. The Caseworker works closely with clients, colleagues, and external parties to develop service and/or self-sufficiency plans to meet individual client needs and preferences utilizing a broad range of financial, medical, social, vocational, and other services and resources in accordance with client eligibility and program requirements. 

Major Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Core Service Delivery

  • Conduct intake services with clients to assess needs and develop Family Self-Sufficiency Plans (FSSPs) and Individual Employability Plans (IEPs).
  • Provide individualized support through direct services, referrals, and advocacy to address barriers and promote stability and employment.
  • Guide and assist participants in accessing community services based on their service plans.
  • Ensure all services are linguistically and culturally appropriate; advocate with mainstream providers as needed.
  • Maintain a reduced caseload, providing comprehensive case management including benefits applications and follow-up services.
  • Receive and manage referrals for ORR-eligible and TANF-eligible clients; participate in case conferences to ensure continuity of care.

Documentation, Data & Compliance

  • Document all client interactions in accordance with program requirements.
  • Enter client and family data into case management systems accurately and on time.
  • Ensure compliance with IRC policies, donor requirements, and reporting standards.
  • Support the preparation of donor reports and funding proposals as needed.

Outreach & Partnerships

  • Collaborate with colleagues, service providers, and community organizations to strengthen referral networks and resources.
  • Conduct outreach to refugee-serving agencies, community-based organizations, and ethnic associations to promote programs and services.

Team & Volunteer Engagement

  • Collaborate with supervisors and colleagues to ensure responsive, client-centered service delivery.
  • Participate fully in program meetings, trainings, and staff development activities.
  • May train and guide volunteers and interns supporting program activities.

Other

  • Use personal, insured vehicle or public transportation to travel within the service area and transport clients/materials as needed.
  • Adhere to IRC policies, the IRC Way, and Child Safeguarding standards.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements
Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field strongly preferred; equivalent relevant experience may substitute.

Work Experience:

  • 2+ years of case management experience in social services required.
  • Experience serving vulnerable or underserved populations preferred.

Demonstrated Skills & Competencies:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook).
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage time effectively.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in cross-cultural, multi-disciplinary environments.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills; public speaking/presentation experience preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to prioritize competing demands.
  • Willingness and ability to drive a 15-passenger van.

Language Skills:

  • Proficiency in English required; bilingual ability in Spanish, Dari, Swahili, Kinyarwanda, Arabic, French, or other refugee/immigrant language preferred.

Certificates or Licenses:

  • Valid driver’s license, active insurance policy, and access to reliable transportation.
  • Must possess or be eligible for a fingerprint clearance card per Arizona state law.

Working Environment:

  • A combination of standard office environment, remote work, and ‘field’ time within the service delivery area to perform the above outlined responsibilities.
  • Occasional evening or weekend work may be required.
  • Must be able to lift 35–50 pounds (furniture, household supplies, food boxes).

Compensation: (Pay Range: $19 - $20.16) Posted pay ranges apply to US-based candidates. Ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job type, internal equity, and budget.  Exact offers are calibrated by work location, individual candidate experience and skills relative to the defined job requirements.
