Responsibilities:
- Maintain Kitchen in a clean and hygienic state on a daily base.
- Maintain a stock of cleaning equipment and materials.
- Identify and report maintenance concerns.
- Plan for meals and snacks within given budget, procure food items at best quality and price.
- Account for expenditures, providing supporting valid and authentic receipt.
- Procure and serve meals and snacks as scheduled.
- Maintain good hygiene and cleanliness in food preparation.
- Store food properly. Any kind of food cooking in the office kitchen it should be clean, healthy testy and low price.
- Organize and maintain the kitchen, kitchen equipment, cooking utensils and dishes in good, complete order.
- Responsible for all kitchen pots and guesthouse assets.
- Work as gardener and provision of food for guests at the guesthouse/seminars/Trainings
- Follow IRC Food and Hygiene Guidelines.
- Maintain IRC Guesthouse and IRC Office premises in a clean and hygienic state
- On a daily basis, straighten rooms and clean floors/carpets, surface and fixtures in assigned facilities to prescribed standards and keeping with assigned schedules.
- Maintain the order and cleanliness of cleaning supply closets and cabinets.
- Request cleaning supplies and equipment as needed in a timely fashion.
- Maintain cleaning equipment and materials in good and clean condition.
- Sweep walkways, external stairs and outside at least once a day. Pick up and dispose of litter.
- Clean windows, refrigerators, fans, air-conditioners, lighting fixtures, as needed or scheduled.
- Wash carpets as needed or requested.
- Provide laundry and cooking/kitchen services as assigned.
- Provide emergency or spot-cleaning assistance as needed or requested.
- Maintain back –up supplies of water as needed.
- Help to prepare rooms for meetings and other activities as needed or requested.
- Identify and report maintenance concerns, including but not limited to problems with plumbing, light fixtures, window, doors and cleaning equipment.
- And any other task assigned by supervisor
Common Duties:
- Attend and participate in trainings identified/organized by your supervisor
- Follow any new procedures and guidelines designated in circulars from Country Director
- To report any violations of the IRC Sexual Abuse and Exploitation Code of Conduct. The reporting of violations is an obligation on the part of all staff members.
- To assist where necessary in undertaking activities that aim to prevent the occurrence of sexual abuse and exploitation of beneficiaries by IRC and other humanitarian workers.
- Any other duties as assigned by your supervisor
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Proven experience as a cook
- 1-2 years' working experience in cooking and supporting the cook
- Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods (grilling, baking, boiling, etc.)
- Ability to follow all sanitation procedures.
- Ability to work in a team.
- Very good communication
- Ability to speak and write Pashto and Dari
- Ability to understand and write basic English up to some extend
- Experienced with foreign recipes
