Context
The 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence is an annual international campaign that kicks off on 25 November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, and runs until 10 December, Human Rights Day. Every year, the UNITE Campaign focuses on a specific theme. The campaign calls on citizens to show how much they care about ending violence against women and girls by sharing the actions they are taking to create a world free from violence towards women.
UNTB cooperation with UNV has established a Special Programme Initiative, aiming at engaging UN Volunteers to support UNTB and in particular the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence campaign in Türkiye.
The selected national UN Community Volunteers will assist UNTB team in Türkiye in support UNTB with organizations of events and workshops to raise awareness on gender-based violence, targeting youth and community leaders, empowering them to become agents of change against gender-based violence.

Task description
Under the direct supervision of UNTB Managing Director, the national UN Community Volunteer will:
• Create social media tiles and infographics aligned with the 16 Days of Activism theme.
• Draft key messages and captions to promote women’s empowerment through technology.
• Support the organization of a webinar featuring gender and digital inclusion experts.
• Gather and document good practices from LDCs on technology-driven gender initiatives.
• Contribute to a knowledge brief highlighting innovations that empower women and girls.
• Engage with community to promote awareness of gender-based violence issues.
• Maintain records of participants, attendance, and workshop materials.
• Any other related tasks as may be required or assigned by the supervisor.
Furthermore, UN Volunteers are encouraged to integrate the UN Volunteers programme mandate within their assignment and promote voluntary action through engagement with communities in the course of their work. As such, UN Volunteers should dedicate a part of their working time to some of the following suggested activities:
- Strengthen their knowledge and understanding of the concept of volunteerism by reading relevant UNV and external publications, and take active part in UNV activities (for instance in events that mark International Volunteer Day, 5th of December).
- Be acquainted with and build on traditional and/or local forms of volunteerism in the host country.
- Provide annual and end-of-assignment self-reports on UN Volunteer actions, results, and opportunities (for instance; at https://vra.unv.org),
- Contribute articles/write-ups on field experiences and submit them for UNV publications/websites, newsletters, press releases, etc.
- Promote or advise local groups in the use of online volunteering or encourage relevant local individuals and organizations to use the UNV Online Volunteering service whenever technically possible.
