Organizational Setting
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) has reinforced its presence in Ukraine by signing an agreement with the Government to set up a Project Office that will facilitate and expand the provision of technical and humanitarian assistance to the country’s most vulnerable communities, especially in rural areas.
Ukraine joined FAO in 2003 and since 2015 the Organization has been operating in two strategic directions\: emergency humanitarian response in conflict-affected oblasts and agricultural development across the whole country. Following the outbreak of the war in Ukraine in February 2022, FAO has scaled up its activities in the country to support agricultural production and food systems with the aim of protecting the food security of vulnerable households and communities across Ukraine.
This role is based full-time in Kyiv, Ukraine.

Reporting Lines
Under the overall supervision of the Head of the Office in Ukraine and the direct supervision of the Operations Officer, and in close collaboration with the Administrative Assistant, Fleet Manager and the Senior Driver of the respective duty station.
Technical Focus
The Driver is responsible for driving the Office personnel of the FAO Offices in Ukraine, including transportation requirements outside of Kyiv and Ukraine. He/she ensures the safety, technical soundness, and conformity of the vehicle(s) assigned.
Tasks and responsibilities
Transportation Services
• Provide official transportation services for staff members and country official visitors during authorized trips
• Serve as designated driver for the FAO Regional Representative as required
• Meet and assist FAO staff and visitors at airports and railway stations
• Facilitate trans-border transfer procedures, customs formalities, hotel registration, and other local administrative requirements as necessary
Vehicle Management and Maintenance
• Maintain comprehensive logs of official trips, including daily mileage records, fuel consumption data, transportation expenditures, and repair documentation
• Ensure daily maintenance of assigned vehicles through timely execution of minor repairs and coordination of major repair services
• Conduct regular maintenance activities including oil and tire inspections, brake system checks, and other preventive measures
• Carry out minor repairs and arrange comprehensive repair services to maintain vehicle safety standards and technical soundness
• Maintain vehicles in clean and presentable condition at all times
Documentation and Compliance
• Ensure availability and current status of all required documentation and supplies, including vehicle insurance, maintenance logs, relevant maps, first aid equipment, and necessary spare parts
• Implement immediate response procedures as mandated by organizational rules and regulations in the event of vehicle accidents or incidents
• Ensure strict adherence to all organizational and local country regulations, security protocols, and procedures established by FAO and the United Nations Department of Safety and Security (UNDSS) pertaining to driving operations and road safety
Logistics and Administrative Support
• Collect and deliver correspondence, official documents, diplomatic pouches, procurement items, and other materials between the main office and field locations
• Conduct official visits to postal facilities, airports, government agencies, and project sites for collection and delivery of items and communications
• Provide operational support to FAO personnel and consultants for field mission preparation, including assistance with security clearance procedures, travel authorization processes, travel expense documentation, and vehicle allocation coordination
• Accompany FAO experts during field missions as operationally required
Additional Responsibilities
• Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisory personnel
CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING
Minimum Requirements
• Secondary education completed
• Valid Ukrainian driver’s license (B, C1, or C category)
• At least 3 years’ work experience as a driver, preferably with UN/non-governmental organization (NGO)
• Working knowledge/Fluency (Level C or native) of Russian and Ukrainian
• Knowledge of English language Level A/B
• National of Ukraine
