Mission and objectives
UNDP’s Programme of Assistance to the Palestinian People (PAPP) derives its mandate from the United Nations General Assembly Resolution 33/147 of 20 December 1978. Called upon by United Nations Member States in that year, UNDP was requested “to improve the economic and social conditions of the Palestinian people by identifying their social and economic needs and by establishing concrete projects to that end”. UNDP/PAPP is a responsive development agency that works together with the Palestinian people to fulfil their aspiration for sustainable human development based on self-determination, equality and freedom.
Context
UNDP Programme of Assistance to the Palestinian People (PAPP) derives its mandate from United Nations General Assembly Resolution 33/147 of 20 December 1978 to improve the economic and social conditions of the Palestinian people by identifying their social and economic needs and by establishing concrete projects to that end. UNDP/PAPP places empowerment, resilience and sustainability at the centre of its operation and focuses on three priority areas: The Gaza Strip, East Jerusalem and Area C of the West Bank, where the needs are the greatest. UNDP/PAPP is active in three thematic areas: governance and basic services; inclusive economic development; and management of natural resources. All these focus areas fall under the broader umbrella of transformative resilience which is centred around three concepts: ownership and leadership, self-reliance and cohesive identity.
UNDP/PAPP has received funding from Norway to support critical recovery areas in the Gaza Strip. Among which is planned support for MSMEs in high-priority sectors to ensure that the economic production remains alive, and provide a base-line production capacity to MSMEs. This action is complementary to other interventions currently planned and ongoing towards realizing critical actions needed for ensuring the restoration of the private sector main operations and MSME operation.
The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) Programme jointly with the Programme of Assistance to the Palestinian People, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP-PAPP) is seeking a “Project Coordination Assistant” to take part of the currently for an initial duration of 6 months, renewable upon satisfaction and availability of funds.
UNDP/PAPP has received funding from Norway to support critical recovery areas in the Gaza Strip. Task description
Under the supervision of the Project Manager, this position will monitor and provide support to implementing partners as follows.
•Conduct regular field follow‑up visits to monitor the implementation of project(s) activities.
•Prepare field reports, documenting progress, challenges, and recommendations.
•Support logistical arrangements for project activities, including coordination with partners, vendors, and beneficiaries.
•Assist in collecting data from MSMEs and implementing partners as part of monitoring efforts.
•Facilitate communication and information sharing between the project team and field stakeholders.
•Support in organizing workshops, meetings, and missions (venue coordination, attendance sheets, transport).
•Maintain proper record‑keeping of field activities, delivery notes, and verification evidence.
•Contribute to visibility and communication efforts by providing field updates, photos, and stories.
•The incumbent performs other duties within their functional profile as deemed necessary for the efficient functioning of the Office and the Organization.
