Context
Under the overall supervision of the Chief of IOM Mission in Slovakia and direct supervision of the Head of the European Migration Network (EMN) Unit in the Slovak Republic; the successful candidate will be responsible and accountable for assisting with implementation of all EMN project activities (www.emn.sk) with focus on research, publication and networking activities as well as for the overall support of the EMN Head.

Responsibilities

Assist in research, data support and publication of written outputs:
1. Assist in desk and pre research on migration, asylum and integration from different sources.
2. Assist in analysing and compiling gathered data and information, and contribute to drafting orreviewing EMN written outputs.
3. Monitor, collect and update (from secondary sources) migration statistics at national, EU and globallevel; based on the needs prepare basic analyses, charts, tables or summaries for use in EMNpublications, website content, meetings or internal briefs.
4. Assist with following up developments and based on the needs draft briefs on changes inSlovak/EU migration legislation and policies for internal needs and EMN outputs.
5. Edit and finalise the EMN publications or other outputs in line with the EMN/IOM guidelines(including formatting, checking translation/proofreading, identifying dissemination mailing lists).
6. Assist in the timely dissemination of EMN publications and information to network members andstakeholders.

Support to events and networking activities:
7. Maintain and update contact lists, distribution lists and internal trackers relevant to stakeholderengagement.
8. Assist in and support the organisation and implementation of EMN national events/meetingsincluding preparation of meeting materials such as agendas, background files, presentations,minutes, speaker bios, administration, logistics etc.
9. Based on the needs, participate in the EMN meetings organised by the European Commissionand/or provide necessary expert support for the meetings. Participate in other EMN meetingsbetween EU Member States related to different EMN/migration topics as requested.
10. Support, complement and participate in the awareness raising activities aimed at specific targetgroups as well as wider public.

11. Assist in evaluation and reviewing of the project progress and flag any delays or inconsistencies tothe supervisor.
12. Maintain internal files, databases, trackers or repositories related to e.g. research, statistics, legislation updates, publications or meetings as requested.
13. Perform other related duties as may be assigned by Chief of Mission and the direct supervisor.

Qualifications

Education

University degree in Humanities, International Relations, Political or Social Sciences, or related field from an accredited academic institution, with at least three years of relevant professional experience, preferably in similar roles; OR
Completed High School degree from an accredited academic institution, with at least five years of relevant working experience, preferably in similar roles.

Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.

Experience

• Experience in assisting/conducting research or analyses (preferably in the field of migration);
• Experience in working with (migration) statistical/information data;
• Experience in writing, reviewing/commenting of the documents, editing or finalizing written outputs;
• Relevant working experience with networking tasks and meeting/events organization;
• Experience in working with governments, civil society, EC is an advantage;
• Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. is required;
• Experience in working with migrants, migration management, and international migration issues is an advantage.

Skills
• Strong communication skills and content writing skills;
• Excellent research data analysis, data collection, and reporting/reviewing skills;
• Very good organisational skills;
• Ability to work independently, use own initiative and work under pressure, prioritize, multi-task, with minimum supervision;
• Teamwork and coordination skills to liaise with internal units, partners, and stakeholders.
• Attention to detail and ability to follow IOM standards and guidelines.
• Driving license B – active driver – an advantage
Languages
For this position, fluency in Slovak and English is required (oral and written).
Working knowledge of any other IOM’s official languages is an advantage.
IOM’s official languages are English, French and Spanish.
Proficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.
