BACKGROUND

The Digital Communications Manager in Sweden works in the communications team in Stockholm to build the profile of the International Rescue Committee in Sweden (RESCUE) and contribute to our influencing and fundraising goals. The candidate must have an excellent level of written Swedish and strong copywriting experience.

The role belongs to RESCUE’s global Marketing & Mobilization team which is responsible for all of RESCUE's brand, communications, creative and content, and digital engagement efforts.

SCOPE OF WORK
 

We are looking for a talented, collaborative Digital Communications Manager for RESCUE Sverige based in Stockholm to help raise the profile and brand awareness of RESCUE in Sweden. The role reports to the Director of Communications, Sweden, and the Senior Director of Digital Engagement based in New York. This person will work very closely with digital teams based in London, Brussels, Seoul, and New York, as well as Fundraising and Advocacy colleagues in Sweden.
 

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategy and performance

  • Create and implement a digital strategy together with the Sweden Communications and Fundraising teams.
  • Further develop website and SEO best practices with a specific eye toward building profile and supporting fundraising.
  • Lead on analytics for RESCUE Sverige's digital channels, in line with global digital metrics. Provide monthly and quarterly reports to track progress toward targets, leading to data-informed decisions that increase digital performance.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of the humanitarian aid sector, our sister organisations, our online audiences and the type of content that drives conversions.
  • Manage the RESCUE Sverige editorial calendar.

Digital channels

  • Serve as the content and strategy lead for Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn. Proactively run RESCUE Sverige’s social media profiles to grow the Swedish supporter base and deepen their loyalty to RESCUE.
  • Produce and manage paid ads for our “always on” campaign to increase brand awareness on Meta and Google. Lead on new ads every 3-4 months, and work with our agency in optimizing and evaluating monthly.
  • Manage analytics tools & Google Grants in order to raise brand awareness and attract new donors.
  • Develop partnerships with influencers and relevant social accounts to increase RESCUE Sverige’s reach.

Creative content

  • Produce and adapt compelling and cutting-edge visual and graphic content for RESCUE Sverige’s website and social media channels, including social-first video, images, and graphics, in collaboration with RESCUE’s global content production team.
  • Use a data-driven approach to “localising” global content for use in Sweden, and lead on creating new content for the Sweden market.
  • Contribute to the RESCUE’s reactive storytelling strategy to stay relevant to Swedish audiences.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Skills, Knowledge and Qualifications

  • Degree in a relevant subject, or equivalent relevant experience in communications or digital marketing.
  • Experience of analysing digital campaigns and the ability to use Google Analytics or other tools, understand Search Engine Optimisation, including keyword research and its application to SEO, and a clear understanding of how Google’s algorithm ranks pages.
  • Experience of reporting on and conducting analyses of digital engagement, and optimising content/tactics for conversion.
  • Experience of growing audiences across social platforms, especially LinkedIn and Instagram.
  • Experience of working to tight deadlines to deliver high-quality content.
  • Excellent Swedish and English language skills, including writing, editing and proofreading skills.
  • Excellent creative ability in design and video editing. Adept at using Adobe XD, Illustrator, InDesign and Premier Pro (or equivalent services, such as Canva).
  • Self-starter with the ability to take initiatives and work in collaboration with colleagues in Sweden and around the world.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to establish good working relationships with colleagues in Sweden and across the organization.
  • Good organisational and time management skills and the ability to work to deadlines, prioritise and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • A commitment to gender, equity, diversity, and inclusion values.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of key debates in Sweden and Europe on international development and humanitarian issues.
  • Experience of working with a creative agency and/or charitable organisation in a similar role.
  • Experience using Drupal or similar content management systems.

  • Experience of using AI tools.
