Duties and Responsibilities
1. Social media management • Support the day-to-day management of Cool Coalition social media accounts across all channels. • Draft, schedule and publish social media posts, including live coverage around key moments, in line with the Cool Coalition communications strategy and branding. • Monitor engagement, track basic analytics and propose adjustments to improve reach and impact. 2. Website management • Support regular updates of the current Cool Coalition website, including news items, resources, partner updates and event pages. • Help review web pages for accuracy, clarity, basic SEO and alignment with UNEP and Cool Coalition branding guidelines. • Coordinate with technical service providers and internal teams as needed to flag issues and support testing of new features. 3. Newsletters • Assist in drafting, editing and formatting Cool Coalition newsletters and targeted email updates, including selection of content, visuals and links. • Help track basic performance indicators for newsletters, such as open and click rates, and suggest improvements. 4. Design and visual communication • Support the design and layout of communication materials, such as social media cards, event flyers, one pagers and simple infographics using UN approved tools and templates. • Assist in designing and updating PowerPoint slide decks for events, partner briefings and internal presentations, ensuring visual consistency and clarity of key messages. 5. Knowledge management support • Assist with preparation and dissemination of communication emails. • Monitor the Cool Coalition communications inbox, flag priority messages, and support timely follow-up. • Maintain and regularly update partner contact lists and distribution lists for outreach and events. • Perform other communications related tasks as required by the supervising staff member in support of the Cool Coalition work programme. All duties will be carried out in accordance with UNEP rules and procedures and under the guidance of the supervisor.
Qualifications/special skills
Education -- Completed or ongoing studies for degree in communications, media, marketing, design or related field. -- Computer literate in standard software applications, including the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). -- Familiarity with website content management systems (preferably Drupal). -- Experience with email marketing/newsletter tools. -- Basic graphic design skills using tools, such as the Adobe Creative Suite or Canva. -- Comfortable using collaboration and communication tools (e.g. Microsoft Teams, SharePoint). -- Basic understanding of social media analytics and digital performance tracking tools. Work Experience Not required for Internships. Candidate should demonstrate keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the United Nations Charter. Candidate should demonstrate ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views. Languages English is one of the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in English is required for the Internship Programme. Knowledge of one of the following UN language is an advantage (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish). Assessment Method Applicant must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent); or (c) have graduated with a university degree (as defined above).
