Malteser International has been working in Nigeria since 2017. In Northeast Nigeria and more specifically in Borno, Taraba and Adamawa States, MI is currently active in the WASH (water, sanitation and hygiene), Protection and FNSL sectors for saving and improving the lives of both the IDP/refugee populations as well as the host communities. The WASH activities focus on improved access to safe water, sanitation, and hygiene, including NFI distribution, solarization of boreholes, rehabilitation of hand pumps, construction of latrines, and hygiene promotion. The protection activities focus on prevention and response to Gender Based Violence (GBV)  cases.

The Food Nutrition Security and Livelihood interventions mainly focus on micro gardening, pullet rearing for egg production, composting, and Nutrition (food demonstration, referrals of malnutrition cases to nutrition partners, and sensitisation on nutrition). For our work in Katsina State, Nigeria, Malteser International is seeking a qualified Multipurpose Cash Assistance (MPCA) Assistant (subject to funding) – National Position.

The Multipurpose Cash Assistance (MPCA) Assistant will assist the Multipurpose Cash Assistance (MPCA) Officer in the implementation of Multipurpose Cash Assistance within the Malteser Areas of Interventions in Katsina State.

Your responsibilities:

  • Support the effective delivery of multipurpose cash assistance (MPCA), ensuring accurate data collection and reporting according to Malteser International standards, while maintaining strong relationships with communities and partners
  • Support MPCA implementation through community engagement, beneficiary targeting, registration, cash disbursement via financial service providers, and market monitoring to ensure transparent, accountable, and context-appropriate assistance
  • Collect, manage, and report program data, and support MEAL processes, documentation, monitoring activities, and internal and external coordination in compliance with Malteser International procedures
  • Strengthen collaboration with government authorities, humanitarian actors, community leaders, and beneficiaries to ensure effective coordination, acceptance, and smooth project implementation

Your profile:

  • Minimum of National Diploma (ND) in the field of 
    Economics, Social Sciences, or Agricultural Economics. At least 1-2 years of experience in connection with MPCA
  • Strong communication skills, including proficiency in the local dialect (preferably Hausa and English), are a core criterion
  • Ability to work effectively with local governments, align with MI values and standards, and cope in stressful or hostile environments, including travelling to deep field locations and conducting partner visits
  • Qualified candidates currently based in Katsina or with Katsina State of Origin will be prioritized
