Since 2003, TI has partnered with the U4 Anti-Corruption Resource Centre to provide on-demand research services on corruption and corrupt money flows to the staff of 7bilateral development agencies through the operation of U4 Helpdesk services. As part of these services, the Helpdesk addresses the knowledge needs of the anti-corruption movement via conducting secondary desk research and developing a range of targeted research and knowledge products in a timely manner on a wide range of topics related to corruption and economic crime.

Role Purpose: The Research Coordinator will provide Helpdesk services to selected stakeholders and lead the development of knowledge materials and methodologies. Occasionally provide thematic support to TI chapters and quality control of project outputs for multi-country projects. Team: Research & Knowledge Team Reporting Line: Head of Research & Knowledge Salary Band: Salary according to TI-S internal salary structure; for this position corresponding to band PF2 a salary starting EUR 42,000.00 gross per year depending on relevant experience. MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES OF THE ROLE
Based in the Research & Knowledge Team and reporting to the Head of Research & Knowledge, the Research Coordinator will:
- Conduct and coordinate secondary desk research on a wide range of corruption-related topics, to address the on-demand knowledge needs of the TI movement and U4 partner agencies in a timely manner.
- Produce and disseminate original materials, with consideration of the linkages between corruption, discrimination.
- Contribution to research design, training of researchers, provision of need-based support and guidance to national chapters.
- Provide quality control of project outputs and oversee the development of relevant knowledge materials by chapters
- Coordinate a pool of external contributors as well as a network of leading international anti-corruption experts.
- Promote and disseminate TI-S’ knowledge products through various platforms, channels and outreach activities (e.g. blogs, social media, workshops and conferences).
- Contribute to the TI research portfolio by taking part in specified aspects of research project management, delivery of research tools, monitoring and quality control, and the production of publications and other outreach materials.
- Contribute to the development of knowledge materials, tools and research methodologies to identify and mitigate corruption risks in support of TI strategic priorities/multi-country projects.
- Generate ideas, develop concept notes/proposals, and activities that are aligned with organisational priorities.
- Contribute to day-to-day work implementation, including work planning, budget management, monitoring, and reporting, ensuring that all phases are consistent with the design and delivery schedule and internal processes and procedures.
- Stay abreast of developments relating to the area of work and be available to respond to on-demand internal and external stakeholder needs.
- Represent the organisation at relevant fora within area of expertise as needed; build relationships and form alliances with external counterparts, communities of practice and stakeholders.
- Contribute to the overall functioning of the Research & Knowledge Team by providing proactive and ad hoc support where necessary.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
In order to succeed in this role, candidates will need to meet the following:
- Masters or equivalent in a relevant field of the social sciences, such as political science, sociology, economics, public administration or a related field, with an academic emphasis on research.
- 5+ years of relevant professional experience in social science research with a track record of producing operationally and policy relevant research.
- Substantive experience in research coordination in a multi-country/international setting.
- Experience in providing training, technical assistance and quality control on applied research projects, preferably in a multi-country/comparative context, with excellent attention to detail.
- Strong knowledge and experience in research design, development of tools and methodologies.
- Recognised expertise in governance and anti-corruption is required; expertise on the political economy of corruption in low- and middle-income countries.
- Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and delivering to tight timelines.
- Demonstrated organisational and project management skills with strong organisational skills and the ability to successfully manage priorities in a dynamic and fast paced environment.
- Solid writing, editing and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a team as well as independently, particularly at distance communication.
- Professional language proficiency in written and spoken English, additional languages an asset
