BACKGROUND
IUCN, represented by its Bangladesh Country Office, is implementing projects with support from various donors. To ensure the smooth operation of these projects, IUCN requires a Programme Associate(Wildlife Biologist)
JOB DESCRIPTION
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the overall guidance from the Senior Programme Officer, Wildlife Conservation, Programme Associate (Wildlife Biologist) will be responsible for assisting in implementing the project activities and project development, especially in the light of the Partnership Agreement between donor and IUCN.

SPECIFIC DUTIES
Under the overall guidance of the Senior Programme Officer, Wildlife Conservation of IUCN Bangladesh, Programme Associate (Wildlife Biologist) will undertake following specific responsibilities:

A.PROJECT MANAGEMENT

1. Conduct wildlife field surveys, including direct observations, camera trapping, and sign-based monitoring using approved methodology.
2. Support biodiversity assessments, focusing on key indicator species and priority taxa (mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, etc.).
3. Collect and maintain data on species distribution, abundance, and habitat condition in project sites using standardized data templates.
4. Assist in the design and implementation of wildlife monitoring protocols and sampling methodologies.
5. Record human-wildlife interactions and support documentation of conflict incidents where applicable.
6. Support habitat quality assessments and ecological monitoring related to forest and mangrove restoration sites.
7. Contribute to the mapping of wildlife corridors, nesting sites, and critical habitats using GPS and GIS tools.
8. Assist in the preparation of species and habitat databases for long-term monitoring and analysis.
9. Work with local communities to promote wildlife-friendly practices and raise awareness on biodiversity conservation.
10. Support the organization of training sessions, awareness campaigns, and capacity-building events for community members and local partners.
11. Prepare field reports, data sheets, and activity summaries for submission to the project management team within set timelines.
12. Support the preparation of technical reports, species fact sheets, and knowledge materials
13. Assist in planning and logistics for field surveys, training workshops, and awareness events.
14. Assist the M&E Focal Point and the Project Manager with indicator tracking, data collection and analysis, quality assurance, and timely reporting following M&E framework of the project.
15. Perform any other tasks assigned by the Senior Programme Officer or Project Manager to support project implementation.
