Programme Officer (Wildlife Biologist)
Under the overall guidance from the Country Representative, and under the direct supervision of the Senior Programme Officer, (Wildlife Conservation), the Programme Officer (Wildlife Biologist) will be part of a diversified team and be responsible for implementing the project activities in the field.
SPECIFIC DUTIES
Under the overall guidance of the Country Representative under the direct supervision of the Senior Programme Officer (Wildlife Conservation), the Programme Officer (Wildlife Biologist) will be responsible for the following matter related to the project:
-Provide overall management and logistical support to the Senior Programme Officer (Wildlife Conservation) in planning, implementation, and reporting of project activities.
-Support the implementation of Outcome 2 activities related to faunal inventory, wildlife monitoring, and species conservation in the Sundarbans.
-Assist the M&E Focal Point and the Project Manager with indicator tracking, data collection and analysis, quality assurance, and timely reporting following M&E framework of the project.
-Assist in the design and execution of faunal inventory surveys, including camera trapping, boat-based khal surveys, transects, point counts, and direct observations, in line with approved methodologies.
-Support targeted assessments of flagship and threatened species, including dolphins, crocodiles, fishing cats, otters, reptiles, and key avifauna.
-Support data collection, verification, compilation, and preliminary analysis for wildlife and biodiversity datasets.
-Coordinate closely with field teams, community conservation groups (e.g. VTRT, DCT, VCT, CMCs), consultants, and partners during field activities.
-Assist in organizing and supporting trainings, workshops, consultations, and field demonstrations related to wildlife conservation.
-Maintain accurate and well-organized documentation of field data, survey records, maps, photographs, and reports.
-Contribute to preparation of technical notes, progress updates, field reports, and donor reports as required.
-Assist in documentation of lessons learned, best practices, case studies, and success stories related to wildlife conservation.
-Support the development of knowledge products, including species profiles, survey summaries, and outreach materials.
-Coordinate with the M&E and communication teams to ensure consistency between technical implementation and reporting.
-Track the progress of project deliverables and ensure timely submission of species assessments and other outputs.
-Facilitate smooth communication and coordination among assessors, technical reviewers, project partners, and stakeholders.
-Ensure all project data and reports are properly archived and accessible for review and audit purposes.
-Perform any other tasks assigned by the Senior Programme Officer (Wildlife Conservation) and Country Representative of IUCN Bangladesh to ensure successful delivery of project outcomes.
