About the role
The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is one of the world's largest humanitarian organizations. As part of its operations in West Africa, DRC is recruiting an HR Coordinator to support country operations across the WANALA region (West Africa, North Africa and Latin America). This role covers the following countries: Burkina Faso, Senegal, Cameroon, Mali and Niger.
The HR Coordinator ensures effective and compliant HR operations in the assigned DRC’s Country operations within the WANALA HQ Hub. The HR Coordinator provides technical guidance and support to Country Operations, helping implement HR policies and systems consistently. The role oversees HR activities, ensuring quality assurance, compliance monitoring, and adherence to standards. The HR Operations Coordinator builds HR capabilities in assigned countries and ensures the timely, accurate, and confidential handling of HR matters. Ultimately, the role supports the achievement of business objectives through strong, compliant, and effective HR practices across the region.
If you are the selected candidate, you will work closely with another HR Coordinator (covering Colombia, Venezuela, Chad, Nigeria, Algeria, Libya and Tunisia) and an HR Partner, under the line management of HQ. Your main responsibilities are but not limited to:
- Provide technical advice and support to HR teams and country management;
- Review and ensure compliance of national employees handbooks, salary scales and CO policies with DRC global policies and local labour law;
- Monitor and support the rollout of global HR policies and initiatives in assigned countries;
- Conduct HR compliance audits and develop corrective action plans with the HR Partner;
- Build capacity of HR teams and managers on HR policies, processes and systems, including DRC Voices (engagement survey);
- Lead or participate recruitment processes for senior positions in portfolio countries;
- Support onboarding of senior employees in country operations;
- Contribute to global HR team projects and initiatives (up to 20% of working time)
Your profile
To succeed in this role, you must combine strong multi-country HR expertise, a good understanding of the humanitarian context in West Africa, and ability to coordinate with multiple remote stakeholders.
Required qualifications

At least 5 years' experience in HR, preferably in a multi-country role;

Proven experience collaborating with diverse stakeholders to deliver results;

Experience training HR employees and managers;

Fluency in both French and English — mandatory for both languages;

At least a Bachelor's degree in HR Management, Business Administration or Social Sciences.
Desirable qualifications

Experience in an international humanitarian or development organisation;

Knowledge of labour law in Francophone West African countries

Experience using an online system for recruitment and working with HR and/or ERP systems

Understanding of cross-cultural HR practices and challenges in field offices

Predictive Index certification (desirable);

Work location: One of the countries where DRC operates among the following: Burkina Faso, Senegal, Cameroon, Mali, Niger, Uganda, Kenya, Somalia, DR Congo, Sudan, South Sudan, Ethiopia, Lebanon, Yemen, Syria, Ukraine, Türkiye, Tunisia, Iraq, Jordan with travels to the Region WANALA. Please note you need to have a pre-existing right to work in one of those countries.
