Duties and Responsibilities
Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of and in close consultation with staff in the Secretariat to the Governing Bodies working on substantive and communication matters, the consultant will: - Organize and manage the programmes of side events and exhibitions for the CCPCJ regular session in June 2026; - Organize and manage the programme of ancillary meetings for the Crime Congress in September 2026 and service the programme during the Congress in Abu Dhabi for the duration of the Congress; - Coordinate the programmes with internal and external stakeholders; - Develop communication products and update websites related to the meetings; - Prepare and publish the programmes of events; - Provide advice to stakeholders.
Qualifications/special skills
Advanced University degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in advanced international studies, public relations, political sciences, international relations, or social sciences is required; first-level university degree in similar fields in combination with an additional 2 years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. A minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience in managing or supporting work related to intergovernmental meetings, public information, public relations, or public administration is required; International experience in organizing large programmes of side events and exhibitions in the framework of UN intergovernmental meetings is desirable; Good knowledge of standard software applications (e.g. Word, PowerPoint, Microsoft Teams) is desirable; Strong communication skills in a multicultural context, including ability to correctly interpret messages and adequately reflect input in written texts, are required; Experience within the UN system or similar international organizations is desirable; Good interpersonal skills and a high degree of independent judgment and initiative are/is desirable; Excellent team working skills are required.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the UN Secretariat. For this position, fluency in English (oral and written) is required; Knowledge of other official UN languages is an advantage.
