Role Overview
The GCF seeks an experienced Senior Software Engineer Consultant for a position in the Department of IT, reporting to the Head of Digital Solutions. The successful candidate will contribute to the devel-opment and enhancement of the GCF Partner Portal, with a primary focus on implementing and opti-mizing features and modules supporting the Readiness and Preparatory Support Programme (RPSP). Working closely with the Readiness and Preparatory Support Programme (RPSP) in the Department of Investment Services, you will help ensure the portal delivers seamless, secure, and user centric expe-riences for national designated authorities, direct access entities, and other partner organizations. In this role, you will bridge backend and frontend systems to build scalable solutions that support coun-tries throughout their readiness and preparation journeys, from early capacity-building to project de-sign and preparation.
Required Skills
- Advanced proficiency in modern full-stack development using Next.js and React for frontend development.
- Expert-level backend development skills with Node.js and/or NestJS.
- Strong experience with relational databases, including SQL Server, with ability to design and optimize data models.
- Proficiency in API design and development using RESTful, OData, and GraphQL patterns.
- Experience with cloud platforms, with preference for Azure infrastructure.
- Strong grasp of data security, authentication protocols (OAuth, JWT), and encryption standards.
- Demonstrated ability to design and implement scalable system architectures for enterprise ap-plications.
- Experience with version control systems and collaborative development workflows using Git.
- Familiarity with testing frameworks and practices for both backend and frontend code.
- Experience developing solutions that integrate with third-party systems and APIs.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work with complex technical requirements.
Required Experience and Qualifications
- Minimum seven (7) years of professional experience as a full-stack software developer.
- Proven track record of delivering production-grade applications using modern web technolo-gies.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or related technical discipline; equivalent professional experience may be considered.
- Demonstrated experience working on enterprise-level applications with complex data require-ments.
- Experience with portal or platform-based systems is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with international organizations or multilateral development institutions is an ad-vantage.
- Knowledge of the GCF Readiness and Preparatory Support Programme (RPSP), its objectives, and strategic framework is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of Agile development methodologies and sprint-based delivery.
- Ability to participate in code reviews and provide constructive technical feedback.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English are essential for this position.
- Knowledge of another UN language (Spanish, French, Arabic, Russian, or Mandarin) is desira-ble.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders from diverse back-grounds.
- Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and staying current with technology trends.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain robust backend and frontend components of the GCF Partner Portal, with emphasis on Readiness and Preparatory Support Programme (RPSP).
- Collaborate with the Readiness and Preparatory Support Programme (RPSP) team to under-stand business requirements, translate them into technical specifications, and ensure align-ment with programme objectives.
- Coordinate with offshore-based technical teams to align on implementation approaches, tech-nical standards, and delivery timelines.
- Develop and maintain RESTful APIs to enable seamless integration between frontend and backend systems.
- Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to development best practices, coding stand-ards, and security guidelines.
- Participate in the design and implementation of system architecture improvements to support scalability and performance optimization.
- Integrate third-party services and APIs to enhance portal functionality for Readiness and Pre-paratory Support Programme (RPSP) partners.
- Support the deployment and monitoring of applications using CI/CD pipelines and cloud infra-structure.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior developers working on portal enhance-ments.
- Identify and troubleshoot technical issues, document solutions, and implement preventive measures.
- Engage with users and stakeholders to gather feedback and support iterative improvements to GPP portal features.
- Contribute to technical documentation and maintain comprehensive records of system design decisions and implementation details.
