Established in 1995, the World Trade Organization deals with the global rules of trade between nations. Its main function is to ensure that trade flows as smoothly, predictably and freely as possible. The WTO serves as a forum for discussing the application of its existing trade rules, for negotiating trade agreements, and for resolving trade disputes between members. The WTO is located in Geneva, Switzerland, and has 634 regular staff.

The WTO's Secretariat is responsible for providing top-quality, independent support to WTO member governments on all of the activities carried out by the Organization.  Secretariat staff serve the WTO with professionalism, impartiality and integrity. The Secretariat is a multicultural team of highly-qualified individuals who possess the wide range of skills, knowledge and experience required to handle the Secretariat's responsibilities and to work together as an efficient and diligent international civil service.

  • Gaining experience in policy analysis, government advisory, or trade-related research.
