The Pharo Foundation was established in 2011 driven by our passion to tap into Africa’s potential to create thriving economies.
Since establishment, we have made positive contribution to over 500,000 people through our integrated development projects anchored on our strategic objectives.
From 2011 to 2015, the foundation focused on funding development projects by giving grants to various NGOs working in Africa. A total of US$6.2 million was granted to fund more than 30 projects primarily in Ethiopia, Somaliland/Somalia, and South Sudan. See here a few selected grant projects the Foundation has supported.
Starting in 2015, guided by our new strategy and operational modality, we embarked on designing and implementing large-scale integrated livelihoods programmes initially in Ethiopia and Somaliland with plans to expand operations to more African countries. The transition from grant-giving to project implementation is built on lessons learnt from working with partners and wide ranging stakeholder consultations.
