Empowering poor families to build their way out of poverty
We are working all over Nepal also outside earthquake affected areas. Our Interlocking Brick technology has spread to more than 300 villages across Nepal and on the way to become a mainstream construction technology.
Our story
In 2015 a devastating earthquake hit Nepal destroying more than 800,000 homes. Many rural families were hit hard and pushed deeper into debt and poverty. We started as a small team working to help poor families rebuild their homes. We realized that the only way to rebuild on the scale needed in remote villages is to empower the locals to build by themselves using local materials. We interviewed several families, all of them were dreaming of living in a brick house. But no one could afford it.
We started Build up Nepal to help them fulfill that dream. Build up Nepal’s mission is to make bricks Eco-friendly and affordable. Our Interlocking Earth Bricks are produced in the village using sand, soil and 10% cement enabling poor families to build disaster resistant homes at low cost.
