SCOPE OF ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT INTERN WORK: The Career Development intern works with IRC Career Development Specialists to deliver advanced job readiness training workshops, support clients with online job searching and submitting job applications, and connect clients to resources that support their overall career goals.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinateand facilitate monthly advanced job readiness training workshops on topics such as: resume and cover letter writing, networking, online job searching, and related topics.
Collaborate with Career Development Specialists to develop advanced job readiness training curriculum.
Schedule one-on-one meetings with clients to support them indeveloping online job search skills and submittingjob applications.
Research and make initial contact with local employers and organizations to find strong employer partners in specific career fields such as healthcare, IT, trades, and others.
Conduct ongoing outreach to eligible clients to gauge program interests and services needed.
Attend staff meetings, team meetings, and training related to the position.
- Provide general administrative support.
- Able to work in-person at the IRC Richmond Office at least 15 hours a week Monday through Friday 9AM-5PM for at least three months.
Strong interest in working with international clientswith varying levels of digital literacy, and proven ability to work with consideration and respect for cross-cultural differences.
Excellent communication skills, through written communication, phone calls, and public speaking/presentations to small groups.
Experience with and/or knowledge related tocover letter & resume writing, completing onlinejob applications, and/or interview skills.
Self-starter with strong organizational skills and ability to work independently.
Skilled with technology, including Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Excel, and Word.

This position is unpaid and reports to the Career Development Specialist.
