Job Overview:
IRC Greece supports vulnerable refugee and host communities in Athens to access income generation through employment and self-employment services, directly and in collaboration with partners. The IRC is recruiting an interpreter/cultural mediator to provide interpretation services for career and entrepreneurship counselling sessions held with French speakers who are clients of the Livelihoods program of the IRC. The Interpreter will also be responsible for interpretation in business, soft skills and job readiness training group trainings in collaboration with partners and the translation of relevant material.

Major Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 
•Assist with interpretation and when applicable, cultural mediation in communication with IRC staff, national staff, beneficiaries and/or any other relevant parties;
•Assist in collection of information and data and case identification;
•Provide interpretation during intake assessments, career and entrepreneurship counseling sessions;
•Provide interpretation for group trainings in job readiness, business and softs skills;
•Translate communication from English/Greek to French including relevant curriculum or outreach material;
•Support IRC in ensuring activities are accepted by the community members;
•Support Livelihoods activities wherever they take place;
•Complete the monthly report and any other reporting and monitoring tool, as required;
•Conduct other duties as the needs arise.
Job Requirements:
To excel in this role, you will need:
•Bachelor’s degree in translations, social sciences and/or extended experience in translation/interpretation services, especially in group settings;
•Strong communication skills (written and spoken) in French and ability to translate into English and/or Greek and vice versa;
•Understanding and sensitivity to the needs of people from a variety of backgrounds and cultures;
•Thrive in high-pressure environments and consistently deliver high-quality work on time; 
•Responsiveness to queries and referrals as and when needed and able to manage a varying workload;
•Cultural awareness and ability to build relationships quickly with a wide variety of people;
•Flexibility, openness to others, humanitarian motivation;
•Training in interpretation or intercultural mediation is an asset;
•Experience of working with refugees and vulnerable groups of people is an asset.

Promote and actively participate in initiatives and efforts to build team engagement, inclusion and cohesion in IRCGreece.

Work Environment and Duration of Appointment:
This is an in person, fixed term position(3 months) with the possibility of an extension.
Working hours: Daily - 13:00-17:00
Travel and other requirements: Occasionally to other areas of IRC programs within Athens
