Job Overview: Join IRC as a Finance Manager and lead our Finance department in Greece. Major Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
ERP System (Microsoft 365) / General Ledger Processing
•Assist in supervising and handling the country financial monthly closing process.
•Review and approve financial entries prepared by the finance team, and the month-end closing package.
•Supervise the follow-up of the staff, vendor advances, and other balance sheet items before month-end.
Grant Management and Budgeting
•Prepare monthly grant budget vs actual report, spend out plans, and discuss with Sector Managers.
•Coordinate and prepare Donor and Fiscal Year Operating budgets.
•Participate and represent Finance during grants opening, monitoring, and closing meetings.
•Prepare and analyze monthly financial reports (MFR).
Financial Management and Monitoring of Sub-grants
•Liaise with Program and Grant teams to ensure timely submission of reports, payment of sub-award advances, and periodic payments.
•Prepare reconciliation of sub-grant advances, reimbursement, and updated sub-grant schedule.
•Conduct post-award monitoring visits to selected sub-grantees.
•Provide training on sub-grant financial review and monitoring.
•Represent the Finance team in all Sub-Grant working group meetings and initiatives along with program, operation, and grants teams.
Staff Training
•Provide training and support for the country office finance and program staff on IRC finance policies, accounting procedures, and requirements in the main and field offices.
•Provide finance orientation to new finance colleagues.
Training of Country Program Staff
•Build, revise, and present Finance Department components of IRC’s monthly on-boarding day for new program and operational support staff.
•Review and identify gaps in program and support staff knowledge and capacity of Finance functions and build training modules to address knowledge gaps.
•Work in conjunction with the Heads of other departments to produce Finance-related training modules for an online knowledge repository.
•Manage a team in accordance with IRC’s People Manager Standards.
Job Requirements:
•Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience from an accredited university in Accounting, Business Administration, Commerce, or Finance, or master’s degree or equivalent experience in Accounting.
•At least 5 years of experience in a similar financial, compliance, or operational role supporting EU, National AMIF, and international donor projects in similar contexts. Must have at least 2 years of supervisory experience.
•Experience with budgeting and financial reporting requirements on multimillion-dollar funded projects.
•Experience with financial management and reporting on projects with substantial sub-award components.
•Solid understanding of generally accepted accounting practices, financial reporting standards, financial management processes, and procedures.
•Familiarity with EU and National AMIF rules and regulations.
•Extensive experience in working with computerized accounting systems (Microsoft 365), standard spreadsheet, and database programs.
Demonstrated Skills & Competencies:
•Must be able to function comfortably in a complex work environment, capable of working and prioritizing multiple tasks.
•Good time management and interpersonal skills.
•Great teammate, adaptable, diplomatic, excellent negotiation skills, gender and cultural sensitivity, and able to handle pressure effectively.
•Proficiency in Greek and English.
•Promote and actively participate in initiatives and efforts to establish team engagement, inclusion and cohesion in IRC Greece.
•Cultivate ongoing learning, honest dialogue and reflection to strengthen safeguarding and to promote IRC values and adherence to IRC policies
Working Environment:
•A combination of standard office environment and remote work.
•Occasional travel may take place.
