Result of Service
The individual contractor will provide general project support to the delivery of UNEP’s activities related to the review of funding applications under the first round of the Fund to facilitate decision-making by the Fund’s Executive Board; and thereafter to support further processing of approved funding applications. This will include communicating with applicants on the outcomes of their applications, working with successful applicants to finalise their project documents and negotiating project agreements.

Duties and Responsibilities
The individual contractor will support the delivery of the following tasks: • Analysis and review: Screening and review of funding applications against pre-determined eligibility and review criteria; engagement as needed with applicants to elicit any outstanding documents. • Meeting and report preparation: Preparation of succinct reports in the prescribed format to facilitate decision-making on funding applications by the Trust Fund Executive Boards; Presentation of funding applications during the meeting of the GFC Fund Executive Board and substantive support to meetings of Executive Board, as a member of the Fund team; Recording decisions taken by the Executive Board on individual projects, including lessons learned from the first round and decisions on the appraisal and eligibility criteria, to inform future rounds of funding. • Follow up actions and implementation of Executive Board decisions: Prepare communications to the applicants informing them of the outcome of their applications; Follow up with successful applicants to finalise their project documents (to include logical framework, budget and workplan) and negotiation of project agreements; Contribute to the preparation of the report of the Executive Board meeting. The Executive Boards will meet in the week of March 17-21, 2025. A higher workload is expected throughout this week.
Qualifications/special skills
An advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent degree) in a field related to environmental sciences, sustainable development, economics, econometrics, business administration or law is required. A first level degree in the specified field(s) along with two additional years of relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of the above-mentioned advanced degree. At least five years of relevant professional experience in a field related to sustainable development, or international chemicals and waste management, is required. • Experience in the development and/or management of projects in developing countries and/ or emerging economies, ideally in the context of chemicals and waste management • Familiarity with results-based management is desirable • Prior experience with review of funding requests under international financial mechanisms is desirable. • Working experience(s) in a multicultural environment
Languages
Fluency in written and spoken English is required. Knowledge of other United Nations languages is desirable.
