CIMMYT seeks dynamic with orientation to results, and with teamwork skills professionals for the position of Accounting Analyst to be part of the Accounting Department.
The Accounting Analyst will serve as a Fixed Assets Specialist, responsible for the proper accounting, control, and lifecycle management of the organization’s fixed assets in accordance with Mexican accounting and tax regulations, as well as internal policies. This role ensures accurate financial information, supports monthly and year-end closings, and maintains strong internal controls over fixed assets. Experience in tax matters (VAT and fixed asset tax treatment) is considered desirable.
The position requires close coordination with internal stakeholders across multiple locations, supporting compliance, audit readiness, and continuous improvement of accounting processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and record fixed asset transactions, including acquisitions, disposals, transfers, work in progress (WIP), capitalization, and depreciation, in accordance with Mexican accounting standards (NIF) and applicable tax rules.
- Maintain and ensure accuracy of the Fixed Assets Register, including classifications, useful lives, reconciliations, and asset tracking.
- Perform and coordinate annual physical inventories of fixed assets and support asset verification and tagging.
- Support asset disposals and auctions, ensuring proper accounting and documentation.
- Execute monthly and year-end closing activities related to fixed assets, including depreciation runs, reconciliations, accruals, and financial analysis.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, SAT requirements, and applicable accounting and tax regulations.
- Support internal and external audits by preparing and validating fixed asset documentation and reconciliations.
- Strengthen internal controls over asset management and recommend process improvements.
- Support VAT-related accounting and fixed asset tax treatment when applicable (desirable).
- Provide support to ERP users and participate in system updates or improvements related to accounting and fixed assets.
- Provide timely support to internal stakeholders regarding fixed asset and accounting matters.
- Support Accounts Payable activities when required, ensuring proper documentation and fiscal compliance (CFDI, tax requirements).
- Participate in improvement initiatives and projects within the Accounting function.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Accounting Coordinator.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related fields.
- Minimum 2–4 years of experience in Fixed Assets accounting
- Desirable experience with VAT and tax-related accounting processes.
- Ability to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders in a multicultural environment.
- Intermediate English Level
- Experience with ERP systems; knowledge of Microsoft D365 is desirable.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
