The ERP Analyst is a senior IT professional responsible for translating business needs into effective solutions on an ERP system, in particular Microsoft Dynamics 365 and the Microsoft Fabric data and analytics platform. The role ensures end-to-end ERP delivery quality—from requirements and solution design to vendor quotations, build oversight, testing, deployment, and operational support—aligned with ITIL service management, CIMMYT governance, and security/compliance standards.

Key Responsibilities

Business Engagement & Requirements

  • Act as the primary liaison between the ERP Team and the business community (mainly the Business Analysts).
  • Partner with Functional Business Analysts and process owners to elicit, refine, and prioritize business requirements.
  • Validate the BRD and FRD for completeness, traceability, and alignment with CIMMYT’s IT target architecture.
  • Ensure all pre-requisites and co-requisites are identified and planned before solution work begins.
  • Provide support to the ERP planning team (PMO) in defining, adjusting and updating the development plan

Solution Strategy & Design Governance

  • Decide the delivery approach (internal build vs. outsourcing).
  • Review the FDD and related technical design artifacts for adherence to best practices.
  • Ensure solutions leverage standard D365 capabilities first, minimizing customizations.
  • Keep the system documentation (IT and User guidance) up to date.

Vendor & Cost Management

  • Review and challenge quotations from business partners for projects and change requests
  • Support commercial negotiations and lead technical transactions with vendors.

Delivery Oversight & Quality Assurance

  • Establish and enforce a structured Software Development Life Cycle procedures (SDLC)
  • Monitor and secure timely and proper testing approach
  • Define and monitor acceptance criteria and test coverage.
  • Conduct workshops, gather requirements, and perform gap-fit analysis.
  • Configure finance, supply chain, procurement, manufacturing, or other modules.
  • Work closely with technical consultants for solution design and delivery.
  • Provide UAT support, end-user training, and documentation.

Service Management & Operations (ITIL)

  • Work with Service Desk and Application Support to ensure effective management of Incident, Problems and Changes.
  • Security, Compliance & Data Governance
  • Ensure Role Base Access Control (RBAC), data dictionary alignment, data protection, auditability, and compliance with CIMMYT policies.

Stakeholder Communication

  • Communicate status, risks, and mitigation plans to the ERP Program Manager and stakeholders.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field.

Experience: More than 5 years in ERP analysis/solution delivery, including requirements, design validation, vendor management, testing and deployment.

Platform Expertise: Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Microsoft Fabric, SAP Concur

Methodologies & Frameworks: Strong knowledge of ITIL, SDLC, and agile/hybrid delivery.

Integration & Data: API/integration patterns, data modeling, performance optimization.

Governance: Security, RBAC, compliance, documentation standards, and change management.

Soft Skills: Stakeholder engagement, negotiation, analytical thinking, communication, and leadership.

Experience in international research organization a plus

Preferred Certifications: Microsoft Certified: Dynamics 365 (Finance and/or Supply Chain and/or Human Resources)

Microsoft Certified: Fabric Analytics Engineer or Power BI Data Analyst Associate, ITIL v3/v4 Foundation or Higher

Desired but not mandatory: Agile/PM: Scrum, Prince2 or PMP
