The Economics Department, headed by the Chief Economist, is responsible for providing thought leadership and high-quality analyses to guide the policy and investment program of the Bank. The Bank is looking for an Economic Analyst who could display all-round capabilities in economic research and analysis. 

Responsibilities:

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Retrieve and prepare timely data, statistics, and market information to support analytical work.
  • Conduct analyses, independently or in teams, macroeconomics, development finance, infrastructure, climate and other issues, as requested.
  • Assist in preparing and disseminating ECON reports.
  • Prepare background material for senior management’s engagements, such as including talking points, speeches, etc.
  • Conduct project cost-benefit analyses or reviews, as required. Support project teams in preparing selected projects.
  • Proactively help the department build academic, research and funding relationships with external partners.
  • Support the planning and execution of workshops and seminars, including both content development and logistical arrangements.
  • Other tasks that may be assigned by the Chief Economist or his designate.

Requirements:

  • A Master degree, or equivalent, from an internationally recognized institution, in the field of economics, public policy, or finance, plus one to maximum two years of full-time professional experience, ideally in an economic research or policy development setting; or
  • Alternatively, a bachelor's degree from an internationally recognized institution, in the relevant field, plus two to a maximum three years of relevant full-time professional experience.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills. Proficiency in common econometrics techniques and statistical software, data analysis, and data visualization, is required.
  • Prior experience in infrastructure or development economics will be helpful (but not strictly necessary).
  • Proactive and positive attitude, facility for collaboration with others.
  • Proficient written and verbal communication skills in English.
