SOS CHILDREN’S VILLAGES GHANA is a child welfare organization that provides a stable Family-Like Care (FLC) for children in need. We also provide social services for families at risk through our Family Strengthening Projects. Programme Accountant (Tamale Programme Location)
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Programme Accountant to manage the financial planning, budgeting, reporting, and compliance for our projects in the Tamale Programme Location. The successful candidate will ensure effective control, compliance, and accurate reporting in support of programme activities.
Qualification and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
A professional accounting qualification is an added advantage
Ability to align financial management with programme goals and organisational strategy.
Ability to collaboratively work with cross-functional teams and supervise finance and support staff
Ability to support and strengthen the financial management skills of Finance Officers and Programme Administrative Assistants.
Ability to deliver accurate, timely outputs that support programme impact.
Responsibilities
Ensure the preparation of bank registers for the Tamale Programme Location.
Compilation of bank reconciliation statements for the Tamale Programme Location.
Management of the School Master
Review of all requests, vouchers, and supporting documents.
Conduct a random cash count and thank you letters within the month.
Review Financial Records of all projects in the Tamale Programme location, prepared by Finance Officers and Administrative Assistants.
Ensure stock is taken regularly for the Tamale Programme location and prepare the donation committee report and minutes.
Ensure all incomes are lodged, and payments/deposits at the bank are reflected in bank statements.
Prepare annual budget and monthly financial reports, and monthly transfer requests.
Supervise Drivers, Security, Field Workers, Programme Assistants, and Finance Officers.
Train Finance Officer and Administrative Assistants on best financial practices and SOS Financial policies.
Coordinate the movement of fixed assets in the Program Location, ensure they are labelled, and update the Fixed Asset Register regularly.
Ensure all equipment is maintained and serviced regularly.
Ensure the Guesthouse is always clean to receive visitors at any time of the day.
Liaise with service providers to ensure they are available at all times e.g., Electricians, carpenters, plumbers, etc.
Make entries in Microsoft D365.
Attend to Internal and External Auditors.
Preparation of SSNIT and Tax (monthly), preparation of Household, and request for Bank Statements and Cheque books, etc.'
Any other duties assigned by the supervisor.
