What will you do in this position? 

The ETC Information Management Officer will serve as an active member of the ETC Palestine team, based in Gaza and will be responsible for three main activities:

1. Sharing of Operational Information: focused on providing information related to implementing IT operations in the ETC Palestine conflict emergency.

2. Monitoring and Reporting: focused on documenting and reporting on the performance of the ETC in the Palestine conflict emergency.

3. Advocacy: focused on the mobilization of resources and increasing awareness of the ETC Palestine both in the country and on a global level.

 How can you make a difference?

Under the supervision of the ETC Coordinator, the Information Management Officer will be responsible for the following duties:

1. Coordinate reporting activities relating to the ETC Palestine operations as necessary.

2. Write regular Situation Reports, factsheets, infographics and other IM and advocacy products summarizing ETC activities in Palestine;

3. Assist the ETC Coordinator to write and edit other reports or documentation such as Concept of Operations (ConOps), project documents, concept notes, presentations and funding appeals;

4. Provide inputs to OCHA and WFP Palestine Country Office products, including internal and external SitReps;

5. Manage content of ETC Palestine country operations page, ensuring all information is up to date and accurate;

6. Establish and maintain the ETC Palestine country mailing lists;

7. Advise on internal information sharing mechanisms, documentation formats and templates, central file store, according to ETC guidance and ensuring consistency;

8. Coordinate global and local ETC Palestine working group meetings with partners as well as internal WFP TEC Task Forces including scheduling meetings, and writing and distributing meeting minutes;

9. Monitor the shared ETC Palestine email account and direct requests for information as appropriate;

10. Develop and distribute ETC Palestine User Feedback Survey including compilation, analysis and presentation of results;

11. Prepare and edit ETC Palestine content for news releases, feature articles, stories, briefing notes, and other materials for use in the media and distribution to the public and donors, including creative, human-interest content for both internal and external publication to raise awareness of ETC activities on the ground;

12. Act as an information focal point for ETC Palestine activities in the country (alongside the ETC Coordinator);

13. Support the procurement of the ETC Palestine visibility items;

14. Liaise with donors, NGOs and other UN agencies as required to gather and disseminate information on ETC activities in Palestine;

15. Assist the ETC Coordinator to write and edit other reports or documentation required by the ETC such as Concept of Operations (ConOps), project documents, concept notes, presentations and funding appeals;

16. Attend and represent the ETC Palestine in relevant meetings and local inter-agency IM Working Group; P

17. Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisors.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Education:

Advanced University degree in social sciences, international relations, communications, journalism or related field or First level University degree with additional years of working experience;

Experience:

  • A minimum of three (03) years of postgraduate professional experience in information management, communications or other related fields.

  • Experience in working in international contexts is required.

  • Experience in working in emergency settings, hardship locations or humanitarian context is desirable.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Sound knowledge of Microsoft Windows, MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint and other related software is required.

  • Ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing, transforming technical terminology into easily understood language is required.

  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills to conceptualize issues, think in abstract terms, and analyze numerical data is required.

  • Knowledge of ICT operations and humanitarian reform / cluster concept is desirable.

Language: Fluency (level C) in English and Arabic languages
