SUMMARY OF THE ASSIGNED DUTIES, INCLUDING GOALS AND OBJECTIVES OF THE POST

Under the supervision of Director Operational Support & Analysis (OSA), the incumbent will be required to manage the Command & Coordination Centre (CCC) Sub-Directorate which is composed of three Operations Rooms located respectively in Buenos Aires, Argentina; Lyon, France and Singapore; and act as 24/7 support for the National Central Bureaus in all our member countries as well as a link with the General Secretariat (IPSG); INTERPOL Global Complex for Innovation (IGCI) and our Regional Bureaus. 

The Assistant Director (AD CCC) will manage the staff in the Operations Rooms through direct supervision of a number of Coordinators, Team Leaders and teams of staff to provide real-time support to member countries; crisis management during serious incidents; issuance of regional and global alerts as well as Orange and Purple Notices addressing potential threats. 

The CCC also provides support to member countries via the deployment of INTERPOL Major Events Support Teams (IMEST), INTERPOL Incident Response Teams (IRT) and training to law enforcement officers at INTERPOL as well as pre-IMEST/IRT deployments.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND ACTIVITIES

DUTY 1/Mission 1

Define, plan, and implement the activities and policies of the Sub-Directorate so that the component parts of the Sub-Directorate will, through well-led and managed projects, provide quality, up-to-date  specialized operational police support and maintain an in-depth knowledge covering a wide range and scope of important of police matters, including training and investigative support to INTERPOL's member countries on specific high profile crime areas, as well as operational and administrative services for their regional and national crime fighting activities as required;

 

DUTY 2/Mission 2

Initiate, coordinate, and ensure that the Sub-Directorate will, in a timely manner, identify existing and emerging database and data processing related issues and provide managed project-based solutions for the international law enforcement community and establish regular status reports of the Sub-Directorate’s activities for the Director and regular reporting on the outcomes of projects to senior management;

 

DUTY 3/Mission 3

Develop and maintain effective contacts with other Sub-Directorates and Directorates of the General Secretariat, including leading or participating (as an expert in a field) in expert Working Groups, Regional Bureaus (RB), National Central Bureaus (NCB) and other national and international institutions outside the Organization, as directed, and represent the Directorate and General Secretariat in meetings and other fora when called upon to do so;

DUTY 4/Mission 4

Maintain a detailed knowledge of the activities, strategies and tactical objectives and outcomes of project teams under his/her direct supervision;

 

DUTY 5/Mission 5

Seek self-developed and independent solutions, resulting from in-depth analysis on Sub-Directorate issues, and provide them as recommendations for projects, activities and missions for the Sub-Directorate to be undertaken, and prepare accurate and timely reports on action taken.

 

DUTY 6/Mission 6

Act on behalf of the Director in his absence and, when required, at organizational as well as international conferences and/or meetings;

 

DUTY 7/Mission 7

Carry out all other duties as may be directed by the Director or the Executive Director Police Services.

QUALIFICATIONS, COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS

 

Education and qualification required/FORMATION:

  • 5 year's University degree (preferably in Law, Public Policy or Police Management).
  • Law enforcement training at senior level.

Experience required/EXPÉRIENCE:

  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in the area in question and proven experience in management;
  • Strong leadership skills and experience as a Senior Manager of a national law enforcement agency or an equivalent position in an international law enforcement organization;
  • Sound background in police forensics related to highly specialized criminal investigations including regional and national expertise / operational police support where relevant;
  • Experience in planning and managing complex tasks, with only minimum supervision;
  • Experience working in an international environment would be highly desirable; either from employment in an international organization or from participating in e.g. international working groups, joint international projects etc;
  • Experience in working with computers including knowledge of oral presentations software, business intelligence and word processing software;
  • Strong communication skills both in written and oral form are required.

Languages/langues:

  • English is required. Proficiency in a second official working language (Arabic, French or Spanish) would be an additional asset
