Logistics Expert*
in Port Sudan
The position is to be filled as soon as possible, with an initial contract duration of one year. There are very good prospects for an extension. Employment location will be Port Sudan, Sudan (SD).
The Logistics Manager is a senior operational role within the Sudan Country Programme, responsible for overseeing all logistics and procurement functions nationwide in a complex emergency and hardship context.
The position supports multi-donor humanitarian projects implemented across multiple states, ensuring compliant, timely, and cost-effective supply chain operations.
The role is based in a high-risk, non-family duty station, requiring strong coordination with programmes, finance, security, and external stakeholders.
Your responsibilities
- Lead and manage all procurement processes (goods, services, and works) in line with WHH policies and donor regulations.
- Oversee countrywide logistics operations, including fleet management, asset management, warehousing, transport, and customs clearance.
- Manage and monitor the vehicle fleet, including utilization, maintenance, insurance, tracking systems, fuel management, and compliance with safety and security requirements.
- Establish and maintain a robust vendor management system, including supplier identification, vetting, performance evaluation, and contract management.
- Develop and regularly update procurement plans in close coordination with Programme and Finance teams.
- Ensure proper documentation, contract follow-up, and audit-ready procurement and logistics files.
- Supervise and build the capacity of logistics and procurement staff across all field locations.
- Mitigate supply chain and logistics risks related to access constraints, market volatility, and security challenges.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of SOPs, compliance mechanisms, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure effective, compliant, and timely procurement and logistics support to all WHH projects in Sudan.
- Strengthen supply chain systems, market engagement, and risk management in a volatile operational environment.
- Ensure alignment with WHH policies, donor regulations, and national legal frameworks.
- Support uninterrupted programme implementation through efficient logistics planning and coordination.
- Liaise with authorities, vendors, and external stakeholders on logistics, fleet, procurement, and movement-related matters.
Your profile
- University degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum 5–7 years of progressive experience in logistics and procurement, in humanitarian or INGO contexts.
- Strong knowledge of donor procurement rules (e.g. ECHO, UN, BMZ, WFP or similar).
- Proven experience managing complex supply chains in emergency or conflict settings.
- Strong leadership, coordination, and staff management skills.
- High level of integrity, analytical ability, and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in English and Arabic (written and spoken).
- Ability to work under pressure and make sound operational decisions in volatile contexts.
