Job Summary
The Development Macroeconomics Division (DMD) of the Research Department of the IMF is looking for an Economist under a one-year contract (renewable for a total of 4 years maximum, pending funding and performance). The candidate will work on research projects of interest to the division, and the development and application of models to country cases, in areas such as resilience, energy transition, public investment, trade and fiscal policy. Outputs will typically include practical toolkits, research papers and contributions in policy.
Minimum Qualifications
Educational development, including and/or supplemented by work experience, typically acquired through the completion of a master’s degree or PhD in macroeconomics or a related field such as monetary economics, financial economics, public finance, international trade, or econometrics, is required.
Candidates must possess:
- strong analytical, quantitative and computer skills;
- superior academic record
- an excellent command of English, written and oral
The position also requires knowledge and experience in the application of modern modeling techniques of macroeconomics, such as calibrated and estimated Dynamic Stochastic General Equilibrium models. Familiarity with software packages Matlab and Dynare would be desirable, as would some track record of research papers in related fields.
