Position Objective

The Internal Communications Specialist will be responsible for leading the further development and delivery of GCF’s internal communications approach, with the objectives of building organizational culture, improving staff engagement, sharing knowledge/improving information flow, and promoting alignment with organizational and executive priorities.  

S/he will write and edit communication materials to support corporate and executive communications priorities, to be published primarily on the GCF intranet, and other internal communication channels. S/he will also foster communications that help create a culture of connection and cross-departmental collaboration across the Secretariat, facilitating the development and use of other internal communications channels and supporting the delivery of guidance notes, Standard Operating Procedures and protocols to promote effective internal communications, especially as the organization establishes a regional presence. 

Input

     * Develop and deliver GCF’s internal communications approach including developing tools, guidance notes and protocols, including in the light of regionalization.  

     * Facilitate greater use of internal communications channels to create a culture of connection and improve knowledge-sharing and information flow. 

Throughput

     * Coordinate internal communications channels, including use of the Green Shift, GCF’s intranet, as well as other internal communications channels.  

     * Support the development of cross-departmental collaboration through drafting of, and support for internal communications products. 

Output

     * Draft, edit and review content for internal communication products to raise awareness of corporate and executive priorities. 

     * Develop and deliver new internal communications products to strengthen organizational culture. 

Requirements (Education, experience, technical competencies required of the job)

     * A Master's degree in international relations, economics, journalism, communications, etc.; or a Bachelor's degree in relevant fields with an additional two years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of the Master’s degree requirement.

     * At least eight (8) years of relevant international experience and a proven track record of communications including internal communications. 

     * Demonstrated capacity to develop and execute communications plans and maintain relationships with key stakeholders. 

     * Experience in working with colleagues from different functions and cultures and solid interpersonal skills 

     * Excellent writing and editing skills in English (Native level), as well as oral communication skills in English; knowledge of other languages a plus. 

     * Experience in editorial and managing publications preferred.
