The World Bank Group Technology Office (ITSTO) defines and executes the technology strategy for the World Bank Group, ensuring that technological investments and standards deliver secure, resilient, and efficient platforms to support global operations. Through strategic planning, enterprise architecture, platform engineering, and core infrastructure management, ITSTO aligns technology initiatives with the Bank Group’s mission and business objectives.

Unit Context

The Technology Platforms Team (ITSPL) is anchored in the Chief Technology Officer (ITSTO) division in ITS. ITS Technology Office (ITSTO) drives technology-enabled innovation and delivers the digital backbone for WBG's mission. It develops future-ready technology strategy, modernizes infrastructure, manages innovation, and fosters agility. The unit collaborates across the organization to leverage technology as a force multiplier, accelerating development impact and digital transformation globally.

ITSPL delivers secure, cloud-first IT platforms with automation, self-service, and Platform Engineering (IaC). It manages databases, integrations, & cloud ops to ensure reliable, scalable, & cost-effective alignment with enterprise standards. 

Our organization is advancing a large-scale digital transformation agenda, with application teams actively modernizing solutions across PaaS, SaaS, container platforms, hybrid connectivity models, and Agentic-AI services. Workloads increasingly span AWS, Azure, OCI, GCP, third-party SaaS ecosystems, and on-premises integrations. This evolution demands a cohesive, enterprise-level architectural approach to ensure innovation progresses within secure, scalable, and governance-aligned frameworks.

Under the Platform-as-a-Product (PaaP) model, cloud services must be delivered as standardized, automated, and secure enterprise capabilities — not isolated implementations. The Senior Cloud & Agentic AI Architect will provide the strategic architectural leadership required to unify distributed modernization initiatives into a coherent multi-cloud platform strategy.

Duties and accountabilities: 

• Define and govern enterprise multi-cloud reference architectures

• Embed security, compliance, resiliency, and FinOps controls by design

• Lead end-to-end solution design across PaaS, SaaS, hybrid, and AI-driven workloads

• Establish standardized integration patterns across IAM, SIEM, networking, DevSecOps, and observability platforms

• Enable secure adoption of AI/ML and emerging agentic AI capabilities

• Facilitate cloud architecture workshops with business stakeholders and hyperscaler vendors

Key Responsibilities:

Platform Design & Implementation

• Leads the design and implementation of scalable platform solutions to enhance system performance and reliability

• Manages collaboration with cross-functional teams to define platform requirements and ensure alignment with project goals and business objectives

• Plans platform design reviews and provides guidance on best practices

Continuous Monitoring & Improvement

• Manages the evaluation and integration of new technologies to optimize platform capabilities and drive innovation

• Reviews system performance and leads troubleshooting efforts to resolve issues promptly and maintain uptime

• Manages regular assessments to evaluate the effectiveness of platform solutions and proactively identify areas for improvement

Security Management

• Collaborates with security teams to implement and maintain platform security measures, ensuring compliance with best practices

• Reviews vulnerability assessments and guides the development of remediation strategies

Selection Criteria

• Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 10 years relevant experience or Master’s degree with a minimum of 8 years relevant experience.  

• Demonstrated experience designing and governing enterprise-scale multi‑cloud architectures across AWS, Azure, GCP, and/or OCI, including hybrid and on‑prem integrations.

• Proven ability to embed security, compliance, resiliency, and FinOps controls by design, working closely with security and risk stakeholders.

• Strong track record leading end‑to‑end solution design for PaaS, SaaS, containerized, and AI‑enabled workloads in complex enterprise environments.

• Hands‑on experience establishing standardized integration patterns across IAM, networking, SIEM, DevSecOps, CI/CD, and observability platforms.

• Demonstrated expertise in automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC), with strong scripting skills to support scalable, repeatable platform delivery.

• Ability to evaluate, integrate, and adopt emerging technologies, including AI/ML and agentic AI, while ensuring enterprise governance and operational readiness.

• Excellent technical communication and stakeholder facilitation skills, including leading architecture workshops with business partners and vendors.

• SAFe DevOps (SDP)
