ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

As Global Finance Manager, you develop the financial management and internal management control systems in Diakonia. You are part of the Global Operational Support and Finance Team. You have a specific responsibility for the financial and administrative management of the Global Financial Service Team and supervise and coach a team of Finance and Admin staff. The assignment also includes overall financial planning, financial reporting, analysis and follow-up of the accounting as well as the internal management control systems. You will work closely with colleagues in Diakonia´s Global Operational Support and Finance Team (Global Financial Service Team, Global Controller Team and Global Grant Management Team), country offices (incl Grant Compliance Advisors), global teams as well as with partners, donors and networks. 

  • Contribute to the overall management and strategic development of Diakonia´s financial management work and internal management control systems. 
  • Responsible for the financial and administrative management and internal management control systems of the Global Financial Services.
  • Coordinate and oversee budgeting/financial planning, financial follow up and reporting.
  • Provide professional input to the annual budget processes and assist in the preparation of consolidated financial accounts and consolidated budgets.
  • Responsibility for Global Financial Services´ financial and legal structure, procedures, systems, processes and business policies, responsibility to maximize international collaboration between all of Diakonia´s different financial centers.
  • Operational responsibilities of accounting, payments and reconciliation.
  • Responsible for the preparation and analysis of monthly financial reports and activities.
  • Liaise with external advisors on the preparation of statutory financial information and monitoring the audit process.
  • Ensuring and strengthening internal control and accountability procedures and systems
  • Lead and coordinate the Global Financial Service Team and provide coaching of key functions. Administrative line management and Functional supervision of the Global Financial Service Team.
  • Involve in the update of the business policies and manage their implementation
  • Ensure that all records are complied with all accounting, legal and tax requirements.

Experience and qualifications:

  • University degree or equivalent in Business Administration, Economics, Accounting and Finance or other related fields.
  • Be sympathetic with and enthusiastic about the purpose and goals of Diakonia.
  • Extensive work experience coordinating and leading in projects, finance, audits, risk and compliance. 
  • Demonstrated experience in financial management and internal control systems. 
  • Demonstrated experience working in an International Organization. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively with sensitivity and confidentiality.
  • Proficiency in English.
  • Leadership skills and mentorship. 
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good interpersonal and cross-cultural skills.
