Organizational Setting and Reporting Relationship

The position of Project Analyst is assigned in the Risk Analytics Unit (RAU) in the Office of the Director General (OPSD) within the Private Sector Operations Department (PSOD). You will be based at our Headquarters in Manila, Philippines.

You will report to Unit Head, OPSD-RAU and/or designated International Staff and/or officer (senior/principal/lead, as applicable).

Your Role

As a Project Analyst, you will play a pivotal role in providing analytical support for the processing of assigned portfolios and new transactions. Your primary responsibilities will include spreading the financial statements and analyzing the financial performance of counterparties involved in nonsovereign transactions within both the origination and monitoring divisions of the Private Sector Operations Department. You will be tasked with spreading interim financials, restated financial accounts, audited financials, unaudited financials, management accounts, and/or financial projections, as required. Furthermore, you will perform various analytical functions such as financial analysis, financial model audits, credit and risk assessment, ratings, and data analytics, all in alignment with the mandate of RAU.

You will:

a. Spreading and financial analysis

  • Spread the financial statements of counterparties, including borrowers, sponsors, guarantors, and contractors, at both the deal origination and monitoring stages. These financial statements may include the latest interim financials, restated financial accounts, audited financials, unaudited financials, management accounts, and financial projections.
  • Spread the financial statements of counterparties for bulk reviews under ADB's financing programs such as Trade Finance Program and Supply Chain Finance Program.
  • Populate internal templates and ensure accuracy of financial statements in ADB's risk rating system.
  • Analyze the financial performance of counterparties based on completed spreadsheets.

b. Risk Appraisal of New Transactions

  • Review, audit, modify and sensitize financial models (including proper documentation of all changes) for corporates in various sectors and infrastructure projects, which have been designed and built by sponsors or ADB's deal teams for the use in ADB's risk assessment process.
  • Conduct peer analysis, country and industry research needed for rating tasks.
  • Prepare and assign risk ratings of counterparties, and draft rating rationale.
  • Participate in drafting risk appraisals for nonsovereign loan, guarantee and equity transactions in concept review and final approval stages.
  • Perform additional tasks related to financial analysis such as development of databases and dashboards, special portfolio reviews, etc.

c. Others

  • Participate in selected due diligence conference calls and missions, as required.
  • Assume ad hoc project duties and other forms of assignments, as required.
  • Provide support to other divisions and units in PSOD as and when needed for special projects and tasks.

Qualifications

You will need:

  • Bachelor's degree in economics, finance or accounting. A Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) or MBA qualification is desired.
  • At least 5 years of work experience in major commercial banks, investment banks, microfinance, rating agencies, accounting firms or similar institutions, preferably in the areas of risk assessment, management and auditing.
  • Proven ability to undertake background research, analytical and evaluative work on difficult but well-defined tasks, to collect and organize data and information, to apply computer skills in analyzing and developing data, and to prepare notes, papers and reports.
  • Good computer skills with sound knowledge of common word-processing, spreadsheets, and power point.
  • Strong financial analysis and forecasting skills, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English.
  • Strong coordination, interpersonal and diplomatic skills.
  • Ability to work independently.

Additional Information

This appointment is open to internal and external applicants.

This is a fixed-term appointment for an initial fixed period of 3 years. At the end of the initial period, this appointment may, at the option of ADB, be extended once for up to 2 years, converted to a regular appointment, or ended on its expiration date. This decision will be made in the overall interest of ADB that: (a) it will require Staff's particular blend of skills and experience in the foreseeable future; and (b) Staff's performance is satisfactory and they are suitable for further employment.
